Activity/Task #1: Bitmoji Avatar Description of Activity or Task:

Page 3: : Rideau Park School Teachers TUESDAY RPS K …school.cbe.ab.ca/school/rideaupark/teaching-learning...Practice printing your name using an uppercase letter for the first letter and

Since we weren’t able to take a class photo on the steps of our school, we will be creating a class photo with Bitmoji avatars! Have an adult help you create a Bitmoji avatar of yourself. Make sure that it is a realistic avatar and looks as much like you as possible. Download the Bitmoji app on a Smartphone or iPad/tablet then start creating. Once you have finished creating your avatar, choose a photo where the avatar is standing straight and facing the camera (type the word “photo” in the search bar). Send the photo to Mrs. Prangnell & Ms. Webb through email so we can add you to our Kindergarten class photo.

Mrs. Prangnell Ms. Webb Estimate of Time Required: 10-15 minutes Resources: Bitmoji app

Activity/Task #2: Sidewalk Chalk Designs Description of Activity or Task: Connect art and math with this fun outdoor activity. Create designs using chalk and painters tape. Talk about the shapes you notice in

your design and how many shapes of each colour there are. Watch the YouCubed video and then start creating! Estimate of Time Required: 20 minutes Resources: sidewalk chalk, painters tape, https://www.youcubed.org/resources/sidewalk-chalk-designs-k-12-video/

Activity/Task #3: Say Something! Description of Activity or Task: We have done a wonderful job of being friends of the earth by loving and caring for nature. There is another way that we can use our voice to share our love for the world: say something! If you see something happening that is unkind, say something! If you have a good idea, say something! For today’s read aloud, we are going to be reading with the author of the book Say Something! His name is Peter H. Reynolds. He had an idea for how kids could help to make the world into a happier place, and he put his ideas into a book. How cool is that? Follow along with the read-aloud of Say Something by Peter H. Reynolds.

Page 5: : Rideau Park School Teachers TUESDAY RPS K …school.cbe.ab.ca/school/rideaupark/teaching-learning...Practice printing your name using an uppercase letter for the first letter and

Discuss the following questions:

• How can we say something to help or be kind to others? • How can we say something small that will change the world,

one little bit at a time? • What is something you can do or say to make the world a

better place? You can share your idea however you prefer. You can draw a picture of you, make a sign, take a picture of yourself, etc. Use your best “kid writing” to write a word(s) to go with your idea.

Activity/Task #3: Superhero Insects Description of Activity or Task: Last week, Ms. Shauna taught us how to do paper collage to make insects. We used a variety of materials and made sure our insects had 3 body parts (head, thorax, abdomen) and 6 legs. If they had wings, we used waxed or parchment paper to layer the wings. Ms. Shauna gave us the challenge to create a collage superhero insect. Use your imagination and think of what powers you want your insect to have then start collaging! Here are a few photos to remind you of what Ms. Shauna taught us last week.
