An articulated truck was towing a trailer loaded with 30 tonnes of 3 rental drill pipe and whilst driving through road works on the black top road the trucks passenger side front tyre punctured and blew out resulting in the vehicle leaving the road and rolling. The driver died.

What do you think happened?

Check all your tyres are no older than 4 years old

How can you protect yourself?

Drive slower through road works as there may be stones on the road.

Never rush and query your journey plan if you think it is wrong.

Inspect your tyres before starting the journey.

Periodically check to ensure your tyres are no older than 4 years.

Replace the spare back to its holder after a punctured tyre has been replaced.
