Extract from Tasmania Police Gazette. April Srd.

Information is earnestly requested respecting one William Talbot. He was convicted at Lancaster, England, on the 21st April, 1830, and transported to Tasmania, on the 26th June, 1830, in the ship "Persian." He received a Conditioual Pardon in October, 1846. Inquiry is made at the instance of his son John.

Information is requested of Thomas Brydges Evered, who was transported for a term of seven years, to Tasmania, for forgery, in October, 1842, per ship " Duchess of Northumberland." He received a Ticket-of-Leave in January, 1847, and a Certificate of Freedom in December, 1849. During his sentence he was in the employ of Mr. Hoi-ne, Bowerbauk, Westbury, in 1845, and of John Thomas, of Deloraine, in 1846. He is inquired for at the in-stance of a firm of London solicitors, who state that there is a considerable sum of money bequeathed to him.

Miscel laneous . FRANCIS ALLENDEE ; charged at Greenough, on

the 22nd ult., by Corporal Osborne, with being the owner of an unlicensed dog. Fined £2 and costs.

Special Inquiry. Officers in charge of Sub-Districts will cause in-

quiry to be made with a view of ascertaining if James Mann is at present in this Colony. Descrin-tion—slight, age about 23 years, Sft. 2in. high, dark complexion, regular features, with a little color in the cheeks, dark eyes, thin black moustache and hair; dresses neatly; walks with a long swinging stride. Native of Manchester, England. Arrived at Sydney from London per s.s. "L igu r i a " on the 15th July, 1883, aud followed the occupation of an ironmonger's assistant until November following, at which time he started in business as aerated water manufacturer. Left Sydney on the Gth March, 1884, and was heard of the following month in Perth, Fremantle, or Albany. There is no record of his having arrived in this Colony by the name of Mann, and as he levanted from Sydney with about ^300, thereby defrauding his creditors, it is very proba-ble that if he is here he has assumed another name. Eesult of inquiries to be forwarded to Detective OfBce, Perth. «V„ ,̂.
