A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE
As the Father “sent his son into the world” so parents
send their children into the world “so that the world might
be saved.” This is the missionary role of the Christian
family. Your family is a school where your children
develop convictions which enable them to make a
difference in the world. Fathering is an awesome
responsibility and not for the weak or transient.

SUNDAY’S REFLECTIONS~

FIRST READING:
Thus the LORD passed before him and cried out:
“The LORD, the LORD, a merciful and gracious God,
slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity” (Ex 34:6)

In Moses’ appeal to the Lord to remain with the Israelites
despite their sinfulness, God reveals his fidelity
and mercy.
Where do you see these aspects of God in your
life journey?
SECOND READING:
Mend your ways, encourage one another, agree with
one another, live in peace, and the God of love and
peace will be with you. (2Cor 13:11b)

We hear today one of the earliest New Testament
references to the Holy Trinity in Paul’s closing remarks
to the Christians in Corinth. For Paul, the Trinity
embodies grace, love, and fellowship.
What insight does this offer us about our Triune God?
GOSPEL:
God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so
that everyone who believes in him might not perish but
might have eternal life. (Jn 3:16)

This wellknown text from the Gospel of John reveals to
us God’s selfsacrifice for our salvation. Why do you
think so many people reject or simply ignore this offer of
eternal life from God?

Today we celebrate the Divine dance, a perfectly
Choreographed interplay of the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit. Together they dance and move as one
though three unique Persons with distinctive, yet
harmonious, patterns and steps. They provide a mirror
into our soul. Within each one of us, the Divine dance
continues, and the music of God’s love continues to
inspire, sustain, and recreate us with every step and
melody. Can you hear the music that the Triune God is
playing? Where is the dance leading you ? Our minds
can never truly understand or know God. But our hearts
can seek and find Him. From beginning to end, God is
one and, at the same time, Creator, Redeemer, and
Sanctifier, God’s holy Trinitarian dance is calling you to
holiness. Join in and dance!
$22,000 RAFFLE TICKET FUNDRAISER
Many thanks to all who have returned your tickets thus
far. For those who have not, please make every effort to
either buy or sell your tickets. Needless to say, the
Covid19 pandemic has changed things for us and we
had to cancel the Parish Picnic but since tickets were
already mailed in February, we still want to have the
drawing. We are just not sure yet when or how the
drawing will be conducted.
This is a MAJOR FUNDRAISER for Sacred Heart Parish
so your help with selling tickets would be so much
appreciated. God bless you for always supporting
Sacred Heart.

Child Protection and Creating Safe Environments
Listen to your children:This summer, when your chil-
dren are out of school and on different schedules, meet-
ing new people and going to new places, make sure that
you talk to them often about their experiences and the
people they’ve met. Listen carefully to your children. If
possible, observe and get to know the other children and
adults who are part of your children’s summertime fun.
Above all, communicate your safety concerns to your
children. Make sure they know that they can come to you
with any concerns they may have about the people they
interact with. And if you hear of or observe behaviors that
may be inappropriate, make sure to communicate your
feelings to people who are in a position to intervene.
Communications is key to creating and maintaining a
safe environment all year round. For additional resources

In the history of Christian missionary activity,
there are many great examples of what true
openmindedness really is. When St Francis of Assisi
set out to evangelize the Muslims, he didn't use violence
and accusations, or threats and tricks. He listened
sincerely and explained patiently. His dream of
converting them all didn't come true, but one of the
Muslim leaders he befriended became a Christian on
his deathbed.
When Christian missionaries first came to the
pagan kingdoms of Medieval England, Edwin, the King
of the Angles, met with his royal counselors to discuss
how the missionaries should be received. One of the
King's wise advisors gave the following speech:
"The present life of man, O king, seems to me,
in comparison of that time which is unknown to us, like
to the swift flight of a sparrow through the [banquet]
room wherein you sit at supper in winter, with your
commanders and ministers, and a good fire in the midst,
whilst the storms of rain and snow prevail abroad. The
sparrow, I say, flying in at one door, and immediately out
at another, whilst he is within, is safe from the wintry
storm. But after a short space of fair weather, he
immediately vanishes out of your sight, into the dark
winter from which he had emerged. So this life of man
appears for a short space, but of what went before, or
what is to follow, we are utterly ignorant. If, therefore,
this new doctrine contains something more certain, it
seems justly to deserve to be followed."
All religions are not the same. If they were,
Jesus Christ would never have come to earth to teach
us the truth. But he did come, and his answers to life's
biggest questions are the greatest treasure we possess.

    Fr. Michael

P.S. It has been two and a half months since we last
participated in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass together.
As you have longed to return to Mass I have longed to
celebrate it with you. Unfortunately, we are not back to
where we should be; we still have limitations on Mass
attendance, music, ministers, and Holy Communion.
My goal is to do what we can so that Mass will continue.
More interruptions will do spiritual damage. It is my great
desire that soon our parish will be back to normal. My
prayers will especially be focused on that.
P.S.S. I would like to thank everyone who
remembered my birthday last month. Because of your
generosity I can now buy all the Geritol and Ben Gay
I need.
