Who am I?Who am I?Who am I?Who am I?

I am very thankful for the gift of serving you as your interim pastor. I am convinced we are called to be together for this season in the life of All Saints and in my story as a pastor. Together we will dis-cover more about our God, our faith, our church, and each other. Some of you know some things

about me but I thought as an introduction, I would provide you a few tidbits about me.

* I was conceived a Lutheran….I had no choice but be a Lutheran. My father is a Lutheran

pastor, continues to be actively serving three rural churches at the age of 81.

* I grew up in west-central Minnesota.

* I am a recovering church organist (remember when you are in recovery you are making a

commitment to never do it again!).

* My husband, Greg, and I have been married for 35 years.

* I was ordained in 2000 following a career in strategic planning in healthcare.

* I prefer to be called either Pastor Naomi or Naomi.

* I have served God’s people in Menomonee Falls, Eastern North Dakota, Janesville, and Rich-

land Center.

* We have one daughter who lives in Scotland with our four grandchildren (12, 9, 8, and 6).

And yes, Scotland is a beautiful place primarily because of the wee ones who live there!

* I love to garden and be outside.

* I have a needle in my hands every day---knitting needle, stitching needle, quilting needle.

* I love to read and read a wide variety of genres.

* I love to cook and bake.

* My favorite color is green…followed closely by yellow and coral/orange.

* I try my very best to be physically fit. So, I walk most days and have a personal trainer who

attempts to keep me on the right path.

* LuLu is our beloved Bassett Hound…and yes, she is a character and full of life!

* God’s greatest gift to me is the gift of ministry! I cannot imagine doing anything else.

If you have questions about me, ask. If you have suggestions for me, share them. If you would like to

have coffee, a Blizzard/Concrete Mixer, lunch, or dinner, call.

Let us explore together while we share this time God has given us to be together.

~ Pastor Naomi Garber

Much thanks to all who helped make our combined worship and potluck a huge success. Combined wor-ship happens once a year. This annual event combines both services into one allowing families and friends to worship as a congregation. A potluck brunch followed the service. Special thanks goes out to Karin Hanson, Rita Olin, Nancy Pokorney, Margie Rem and Kervin and Famatta Soko for their assistance with organization, setup and cleanup and to all who contributed to make

this a success.

Thank you for your faithful attendance during our transition period this summer. A drop in attend-ance was anticipated due to Pastor Rich retiring the first week of June and supply pastors filling in until an interim began. Attendance has dropped slightly compared to last year. We are thankful for our time with Pastor Naomi Garber and this opportunity to stretch and learn with her as we choose a

ST I L L LOOK ING FOR TEACHERS !

“To catch the reader's attention, place an interesting sentence

or quote from the story here.”

“To Know, Follow, and Share Jesus”

Are you interested in connecting with our youngest members? Do you feel the need to pass along your love of Jesus to the next generation? Please consider joining our Sun day School team! For our 2017-18 Sunday School year, we are developing teams of teachers so we are able to have more members participate in the joy of teaching. Benefits of this schedule include:

• Getting to know more members of our congregation; • Giving our children access to more members of our congregation; • Allowing our congregation to grow together through our children’s ministry; • Committing to teach only once a month; and most importantly: • Allows you to pass along your love of Jesus to our youngest members. Please prayerfully consider joining our team. We supply easy to follow lessons and crafts and you supply the love and commitment. Please contact: Heather Quartaro (4K-6th grade — [email protected]) or Jen Barakat (7th-12th grade — [email protected]) for more information.

LOOKING FOR TEAM MEMBERS AT 1 0 : 45 SERV ICE ! The 10:45 am Service Teams are looking for new people/families to join their teams. We have five teams for the second service and every team could use another family or two to join them in assisting with various roles

during the service.

Service Teams are responsible for handing out bulletins, passing offering trays and Hand of Friendship folders, assisting with communion, facilitating the readings, and cleaning the sanctuary, sacristy and Fellowship Hall

after the services.

If you’ve been looking for a way to get involved in Sunday morning worship joining a Service Team is a great first step! You do not need to be a member of All Saints to join a Service Team, no experience is necessary and train-

ing will be provided. For more information, please contact Ministry Coordinator Jen Barakat at:

[email protected], or call (608) 276-7729, ext 103.

PRO JECT ION IST S NEEDED !

IN NEED OF S IGN CHANGERS !

Are you tech savvy? All Saints is seeking volunteers to help with projection during the 10:45 service. No expe-rience is necessary and on-the-job training is available! Projectionists assist with advancing the slides through the service while monitoring and adjusting the pulpit and cordless microphones to ensure adequate sound. It is most helpful if the projectionist can join New Song during practice between services (10:00-10:30 a.m.) to run through slides with the band. We are seeking help for one Sunday a month, but can offer more weeks if desired. This role is a great way to be directly involved with leading worship. For questions, or to sign up,

please contact Ministry Coordinator Jen Barakat at [email protected].

All Saints purchased and installed a sign in 2016 to reach out to our community with a message and invite them to join us at worship! We are seeking individuals to change the message each week. This is an fun, easy and rewarding job. Messages are picked in ad-

vance. Please contact Ministry Coordinator Jen Barakat if interested.

The annual information session for all Sunday School teachers is Tuesday, August 15th from 6:30-7:30 in Fellowship Hall. At this meeting we will discuss classrooms and curriculum, review Parish Protection Plan with Julie Ahnen, fill out paperwork for background checks, and get discipline tips from Doug Stampfli of Love and Log-ic along with a Q&A. Not signed up, but interested in learning more? Please con-tact Jen Barakat with questions.

Our church treasurer, Michelle Slawny, is finishing her three-year term as treasurer at the end of this year. We are starting to speak with mission partners about who might be interested in serving the church in this role. At All Saints, the responsibili-ties of Treasurer are less than you might see at other churches because we have volunteer counters, a church secretary and a bookkeeper. Average time commit-ments of the treasurer start at approximately three hours a month with additional

time necessary at the end of the year. Tasks include:

• Meeting with the bookkeeper (Margie Rem) monthly to run the monthly reports;

• Attending the Church Council meeting the third Monday of each month; .

• Preparing the church budget;

• Completing an end-of-year questionnaire for the ELCA Synod office;

• Assisting mission partners who want to make a stock donation, providing infor-mation to them about the church’s investment account and then selling the in-

vestments and having the proceeds sent to the church checking account.

Please contact Michelle Slawny if you would like to learn more about this important

role at All Saints at [email protected].
