+Hydro

We think that hydro power should be increased to about 15% of our energy mix. Hydro power is renewable and does not produce any pollution or greenhouse gasses. A hydro plant cost a lot of money to put in, but after purchased it does not cost much money to maintain it.

+ Solar

We think that solar should be increased to about 15% of our energy mix. Solar does not produce any pollutants and it is a renewable resource. It costs money to install but after you put it in the energy is produced from the sun. This works better in places with lots of sun.

+Coal

We think that the coal should be decreased to about 35% of our energy mix. Coal is a non – renewable and can not be replaced in a humans lifespan. We should decrease the amount of coal we use because it produces a lot of greenhouse gasses and air pollutants which can lead to global warming and smog.

+Natural Gas

We think that we should decrease the amount of natural gas to about 15% of our energy mix. Natural gas is a non – renewable energy source and can not be replaced in a humans lifespan. It produces greenhouse gasses and pollutants that could harm the environment.

+Wind

We think that we should increase the wind power to about 10% of our energy mix. Wind power costs some money to install but not much money to maintain and it does not produce any air or water pollutants and no greenhouse gasses. Although the windmill may kill some birds and bats.

+Biomass

We think that biomass energy should be increased to about 10% of our energy mix. Biomass is a renewable energy resource and produces no pollutants or greenhouse gasses. Biomass is from the food that we grow but, it may take more time to produce because we don’t want to suck all of the nutrients out of the soil so sometimes we have to take breaks from farming.

+How much time will it take to get this mix up and running?

We think that it will take about ten year to get this mix up and running. We first have to inform the people and the government about the changes and then we have to have them confirm it. EX People maybe will make more battery charged cars for a lower price instead of using gas powered cars!
