Vamos a empezar con los mandatos en inglés
In English it’s easy! You do it everyday! You just use a base verb form (without a
subject, since it’s always “you”) to tell people what they should do:
Stand up! Sit down! Do your homework! Take out the garbage! Be quiet!
… mandatos en inglés You even know how to say what
people SHOULDN’T do…
Don’t write in your books! Don’t speak English in Spanish class! Don’t be silly!

AFFIRMATIVE TÚ COMMANDS Can you share some??
Use the 3rd person singular form of the verb in the PRESENT tense ¡Habla! Talk! ¡Corre! Run!
But…what about the commands for people you speak to in a formal manner? (adults, strangers, etc.)
Los mandatos en español…… are little more complicated because
we have so many ways of saying “you”: Tú: informal, singular Vosotros: informal, plural Ud.: formal, singular Uds.: formal, plural
However, we will concentrate on the formal commands only.
Los mandatos formales (ud. // uds.)
Examples: Hable despacio, por favor. ¡Repita, por favor.!
The speaker is talking to one person. Can you figure out how we got the form
“hable” and “repita” ? Examples:
Entreguen Uds. la tarea. Hagan el ejercicio B.
The speaker is talking to a group of people. Can you figure out how we got the form
“entreguen” and “hagan” ?
HOW TO!! Go to the “yo” Drop the “o” Add the opposite ending!
For ud. add the 3rd person singular
For uds. Add the 3rd person plural

Negatives It is very easy…just add a NO in front
of the command! Señor, pase por favor. Señor, no pase por favor.
