+ Why do I want to become a Neonatal Nurse
Practitioner? I want to become a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner because I enjoy taking care of babies under the age of 3. Every time I see a baby it brings joy to my day. Babies are much easier to take care of. I'm interested in learning how the body works at such a young age and feeling the connection mothers have with their babies.
+Job Description
Neonatal nurses provide primary care to premature babies
They also consult with neonatologist to determine best cure for newborns in the NICU
Work with families on the caring of their newborn
+ Neonatal Nursing Education Levels
Level I – Nurse provides care to babies that are born healthy and stay in the hospital for a short period.
Level II – Nurse caters to infants that are born premature or have an illness. Nurses in this level give oxygen and specialized feedings and intravenous therapy
Level III - This Unit is called Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or the NICU. This unit is one that gives care to infants that are premature or severely ill or very small in size. The babies that are admitted in the NICU need surgery and ventilators.
