Kings Bournemouth stu ents showe incre ible bravery as they climbe thethrilling obstacles at Altitu e High Ropes A venture Park [main, an mi le-right], while over in the USA, two lucky Boston stu ents took a helicopter ri eover the city [top-right]. Goz e Koksal from Turkey an Chia-wei Chang fromTaiwan agree it was a once-in-a-lifetime trip: It was just so i erent to walkingon the streets. We coul see where the ocean met the city, sai Goz e. Yes, anKings Boston looks just perfect from the sky! a e Chia-wei.

We want your time at Kings to bethe time of your life.

In 2012, the city of Lon on welcome the Olympic Games for the thir time an what a summer it

turne out to be for Kings. Those stu ents lucky enough to be at Kings Lon on in July actually saw the

Olympic Torch pass by the front of the College.

While in Bournemouth, sta and students alike

celebrated the Queens Diamond Jubilee (marking

60 years of her reign on the British throne). To

commemorate the occasion, the entire UK enjoyed

an extended weekend. And in Bournemouth, Kings

students enjoyed a lovely summer party and even

tried their hand at Maypole dancing!

This strange form of folk dancing involves holding

ribbons attached to a pole while dancing and

trying not to step on anyone elses feet!

At Kings Oxford, it was tuxedos, suits and stunningdresses as our students and sta danced the night

away at their annual May Ball. All in all, a great

    British summer to remember!

The Big MatchIts a hot July a ernoon in Oxfor an cheering fans are out to support

the Kings Oxfor Sta vs. Stu ents football tournament.

Organised by teacher, Mithun Das Bhaumik and Activities Organiser, Tim

James [pictured in action, bottom], the tournament saw members of Kings

sta competing against students from around the world.

It was a highly competitive tournament which was eventually won by a

student team from Spain. Team Captain, Damian (back-right), said, The

matches were di cult but in the end, we are Spain and we were the winners!

Every year, hun re s of Kings stu ents from aroun the worl get

to see an experience the great sights an attractions at their stu y

estinations. An this year was no i erent.

In Boston, Student Services Manager, Shannon Wol , took a group to see

the Boston Red Sox play a home game at Fenway Park, while in London, it

was a cultural trip to the stunning Leeds Castle in Kent, which is more than

900 years old! Over in Los Angeles, Natalia, Camila, Remo and Pharres

braved the worlds tallest vertical drop ride at Six Flags Mag ic Mountain

as they soared 400 feet into the blue California skies before dropping at

speeds of up to 85 mph on LEX LUTHOR: Drop of Doom.

Q: What i you think about your time in LA?

Over there the neighbourhood is incredible, people are

easy-going and they are pleased to meet foreigners.

Furthermore, I think Americans are way easy to talk to.

Q: How i you n your TOEFL course in LA?

I wont say that I scored a 98 at the TOEFL just by rolling my

thumbs! It was tough, every morning I had class with

teachers from 9am to 12:15pm and then I did self-study from12:45pm to 5:00pm. Not every student in my class did the

same, but I really wanted to get a good score. But Im glad

that all Ive been through paid o .

Q: What were the i erences between learning English

    in the USA an UK?

Maybe the challenge that is to understand the British

accent and to deal with proper English, because I realised

when I arrived here that yes my English was good but yet,

it was American English. I know that sometimes using

slang when I talk to a teacher isnt probably the best thing

to do! But dont worry Im working on it!

Q: Whats your favourite thing about Lon on?

What is amazing about London is that there are so many

things to do or to see that I wouldnt be able to answer this

question. I mean today I could say that I loved the Vintage

Magazine Shop where I went yesterday, but tomorrow my

answer would probably be di erent.

Q: What o you think about the people youve met?

I would say Ive met incredible people students, teachers, sta members. One of the amazing things about studying

at Kings is the social life. As an international student

abroad, I have to admit that sometimes the opportunities to

make friends are limited, but not at Kings!! Here we all are in

the same boat and, knowing this, the sta at Kings take a lot

of time to create social opportunities.

But of course they never forget to help us improve our

English at the same time, and whats better than learning?

Well, in my opinion its learning while having fun!

Q: Whats it like to become a stu ent a er being a teacher?

Its easy for me to be a student here because I am a teacher. My own experience of being a

teacher helps me being a student. I know learning and studying techniques and what it

    takes to achieve success.

It feels strange because Ive been used to being a teacher for 10 years. I think its very

    funny to be student!

Q: So how o you rate your teachers here at Kings Boston?

Im not used to the teaching methods because learning English is very di erent in Turkey.

But my teacher is very amusing, disciplined and helpful. I love him. I think he is a good

    teacher.

Q: What are you hoping to achieve at Kings?

Im hoping to speak English uently and I want to read English books and to communicate

    with my foreign friends.

Q: Why i you choose to stu y at Kings Boston?

Ive heard this College o ers a very good education. And Ive read that Kings has a great background.

Q: What about life here on campus?

This campus is incredibly beautiful. It is a wonder of nature in green. Its just awesome.

Q: What o you think of the city of Boston?

Boston is a very nice city. It has a lot of historical places, good shopping, kindly people,

scenic beauty and universities. But its a little bit expensive!

Q: An nally, what are you planning to o a er your course?

I want to study a Masters degree a er developing my English.

We know that living away from home can sometimes be di cult. Thats why we put so much care and

attention into making sure our student residences are as comfortable, well-equipped and homely as

possible. Hear from some of the students now living in one of our latest residences in Bournemouth:

Giuseppe Noto, from Italy, [top image, right] says: Ive really enjoyed it living here. I couldnt ask for more!

And as Japanese student, Maya Ichiyoshi, puts it: For me, the biggest reason for living in a student

residence is to keep working my English brain all day!! she said. A er College, I dont spend all my time

talking to other students from my country. I communicate with other students in my residence in English

everyday. Its been absolutely great for improving my English!

    Living colour

We all know that i erent colours a ect moo s in

i erent ways. At Kings, we think its important to

use colours an esign in our College buil ings

which create a bright, lively space an a ynamic

feeling of energy, as seen above at our Lon on

Annexe. We want our stu ents an sta to feel

happy an positive whenever they are at College.

Thats why we work with specialist interior design

consultants to help us create unique environments

for our students to enjoy. We create special mood

boards showing al l the elements involved in the

total look (such as the one for the new Kings

    London link building shown opposite).

And its not just colour thats important. We like to

pay attention to all the little details whether its in

furniture, signage or even door handles it all

    makes a di erence!

We are rolling-out this design philosophy across all

our Colleges. We wont create a design for all our

College buildings which is exactly the same at

every location, like a corporate hotel chain. Each of

our buildings is a unique environment which we

will treat individually. But each College will still

have that unmistakable Kings feeling. We hope,

wherever you choose to study, youll enjoy your

    time with us.

    A er Before

The contemporary link buil ingat Kings Lon on.

The next 12 18 months should also see

the opening of brand new Kings student

residences in both Oxford and London.

(See page 64 of the main brochure for

more details). The se will join the two new

residences we opened in Bournemouthin 2012.

At Kings, we are creating some great new

    accommodation options for you. Places

you will be proud to call home.
