Shaw made the transition to NCAA Division I after starting the women’s soccer program at Fort Hays State (NCAA DII) in 2011. In six years with the Tigers, the Australian international amassed a record of 66-44-11, including a pair of Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Tournament titles. He had a career record of 104-64-14 spread across NCAA Division II and NAIA. Under Shaw, the Tigers eclipsed the 10-wins plateau in four seasons, had 40 players named all-MIAA and saw five players earn NSCAA All-Region laurels, including two in 2016. Before he came to America, Shaw was a starter for Nerang Soccer Club of the Gold Coast Premier League in Australia.

Jones joins Shaw as the team’s Goalkeeper Coach. Prior to Corpus Christi, Jones was the second head coach in Washburn wom-en’s soccer history. In two years with the Ichabods, he compiled a record of 14-18-6. In his first season on the Ichabod sidelines, he led the team to a five-win improvement and coached 11 players named to all-MIAA honors. Under Jones, Washburn has had 22 players named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and two students named to the MIAA Scholar Athlete list. Jones previously served as the head coach and president of the University of Oklahoma Men’s Soccer Club from 2010-12.

Nail joins the Islanders after five years of working as an assistant under Craig Shaw at Fort Hays State. With Fort Hays State, Nail posted a record of 60-32-10 with two NCAA appearances, including the Sweet 16 in 2016. His defense was ranked eighth in NCAA Division II. Nail served as a student assistant coach for the FHSU women’s program throughout his four years as an undergraduate student. Nail helped the Tigers to a record of 40-31-7 as a student assistant, he helped the program claim the MIAA Tournament Championship in 2012 to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Smith comes to the Island in 2017 after spending the previous four years playing under current Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Head Coach Craig Shaw, at Fort Hays State University. The Islanders’ Volunteer Coach earned All-MIAA recognition for three consecutive years, including a First-Team designation and MIAA Co-Defensive Player of the Year honor in her senior season. Smith collected seven goals and four asists while playing in the midfield at Fort Hays, gathering both an NSCAA All-Central Region First-Team nod and D2CCA All-Central Region Second Team accolades during her college career.
