OUR MISSIONHere at H.R.J. Women’s Leadership Institute, we believe that women can stand for themselves. Our mission is to take women out of poverty by providing them exposure that they can use to find positions that suit their individual skills. We provide them with management that has their best interests in mind, and benefits to keep them at their peak ability to serve. Our mission is to take the skills that these women already have and allow them to take care of themselves instead of rely on neglectful and abusive employers. With this mission in mind, we offer these talented girls’ services to you so that you may enjoy their talents on a personal level, and feel good about supporting young, independent, and capable women.

ABOUT

H.R.J. Women’s Leadership Institute:The H.R.J. Women’s Leadership Institute was founded by Hetaera Jones on May 17th,

2004 as an institute devoted to finding and helping poverty stricken, talented women who have been subject to discrimination, abuse, or neglect. The Institute has offices in Bellevue, WA and Seattle, WA, where Institute employees work with young women to find them fulfilling work free from the abuse they have been forced through due to their poverty, that can last their entire lives. As an advocate for women and women’s rights, the H.R.J. Women’s Leadership Institute has partnered with numerous organizations, including the Bellevue Business and Professional Women’s Group, Dignity for Divas, and Planned Parenthood. The Institute is proud to offer impoverished women a chance at a safer and more stable life, while providing valuable services to the community at large.

Hetaera Jones:Hetaera Jones is the founder and current director of the H.R.J. Women’s Leadership

Institute. Ms. Jones is Washington-born and raised, she attended Whitman College for her undergraduate before obtaining a law degree from Seattle University. After finding herself repeatedly frustrated in attempts to find appropriate work for her talents and motivation, Ms. Jones set herself to the task of raising up the women she saw around her, the under appreciated, the neglected, and the abused. Since 2004, Ms. Jones has worked tirelessly to secure the safety of women in her community. She takes those left behind by society and provides them with the means to transform them into strong and capable women who in turn can give themselves to others. Ms. Jones is a strong believer in supporting the community and she and the women she supports offer a variety of unique and useful services, all with the personal touch that embodies the H.R.J. Women’s Leadership Institute.

OUTREACHThe H.R.J. Women’s Leadership Institute believes it is important to give back to the community. The institute helps provide funding and volunteers for numerous soup kitchens in the Bellevue and Seattle area, supports the work of civil rights legal advocates like the Shaw law group, helps fundraise for the Seattle Women’s Commission, and contributes to many other local charities.

Note: The period for application for the 2014-2015 scholarship has been closed. Applicants will be notified of the Institute’s decision by April 20th. Application instructions for the academic year 2015-2016 will be posted to this site on August 20th, 2014.

SCHOLARSHIPThe H.R.J. Women’s Leadership Institute offers one full scholarship each year to a young women seeking higher education. The scholarship is designed to help ensure that strong, capable, and intelligent women get the education they need in order to become leaders in the workplace and in their communities. The scholarship is merit based, and also has a volunteer service requirement each year. The Institute wants to encourage our best and brightest to give back to the community that supports them.

Many of the women in the H.R.J. Women’s Leadership Institute come from troubled backgrounds, and for the sake of their security, all potential new clients, partners, and members must be interviewed directly by Ms. Hetaera Jones and submit to a full background check. While we understand this is an inconvenience, it is a necessary one for ensuring the safety of our members.
