Ambassador Testimonial: Álvaro Llueca
I first heard about the BAT through other students as well
as posters that I saw around campus at my university. Since
I keenly follow the stock markets and I have been thinking
about a career in Investment Banking, I thought that taking
the BAT would be very useful to kick-start my career.
I have also always been interested in a career at Bloomberg
as I find the unique culture and values of the company truly
inspiring.
I felt that becoming a BAT ambassador is the best way to
learn more about the company and to get unique insights
into different career paths employees could take, thereby
positioning myself perfectly for a future career at
Bloomberg.
I also realized that as a BAT Campus Ambassador, I could
network with current and future professionals working in
the financial services industry and start building myself a
professional network.
“The world belongs to those who see its potential.”
Álvaro Llueca
Bloomberg BAT Ambassador 2012/13
“I would strongly encourage people from all
universities and countries to take on the
challenge of being a BAT ambassador at their
university. Participating in the program truly
provides you with a huge amount of
opportunities!”
I participated in the 2013 International BAT Team
Challenge and our team was called the “BATcitizens”.
Working with my team has been a great experience and
getting support and motivation from other members of
the team was really helpful, especially when I first started
and was not sure how to go about being successful.
From my personal experience I would say the best way to
promote the BAT is by talking directly to as many
students as possible by giving presentations at the
beginning or the end of a lecture. I built myself a network
on campus and asked influential society members as well
as student representatives to post about the BAT on
Facebook and to send an e-mail to their contacts.
And finally, an obvious but frequently overlooked trick is
to simply tell all your friends to take the BAT and ask
them to help you by recommending it to other people,
even if they are not studying at your university!
“Becoming a BAT ambassador is a
great way to promote yourself and it
definitely enhances your
presentation and social skills.”
ESADE Business School, Spain
My story: how I got involved
I heard about the BAT through my Faculty website and I
decided to participate to broaden my opportunities since
I’ve always been interested in an international career –
after all, you have nothing to lose when you participate!
I was contacted by Bloomberg Institute to participate in
the ambassador programme a year after I took the BAT. I
immediately took on the challenge because I wanted to
try something different, something that would open new
doors for me and give me the opportunity to develop
skills that will significantly enhance my employability.
Participating in the programme helped me in many ways. I
built strong relationships at my universities with key
faculty members which has helped my academic
prospects. By fulfilling my responsibilities as a BAT
Ambassador I’ve also been able to build my CV by adding
competencies like leadership and project management
experience, which has helped my professional prospects.
I would say that overall the main advantage was
undoubtedly working with amazing people from
Bloomberg Institute and bringing something useful and
worthwhile to my peers.
“I would recommend the programme
without hesitation.”
I took part in the 2013 International Team Challenge
where I was working in a team with ambassadors
from Denmark, Slovenia, Bulgaria, the UK and
Finland! Our team name was “Excelsior” and this was
our team logo:
Working in such an international team was definitely
a once in a lifetime opportunity!
If you ask me for my recipe of success…I would say
“Word-of-Mouth”. I made sure that EVERYONE at my
University knew about the BAT and I made every BAT
session THE go-to event of the month. I once even
managed to get 5 new registrants during a coffee
break. That’s how thing are done in Croatia – I just
adapted

Bloomberg BAT Ambassador 2012 - 2013
My story: how I got involved
Ambassador Testimonial: Kai Mok
University of Newcastle, United
Kingdom
My name is Kai and I am the Bloomberg BAT Campus
Ambassador at the University of Newcastle for the
academic year 2013-2014!
I enjoy the program because it has offered me the chance
to partake in creative marketing campaigns and sharpen
my communication skills. It is challenging to cramp the
various benefits of the BAT into a 1 minute elevator pitch,
but as always – practice makes perfect! Being a BAT
Ambassador has helped me structure my arguments
comprehensively and concisely – a skill I will carry
forward into my future career!
I approached by duties as a BAT ambassador
very strategically and started by drafting a
hit list of “high probability & high potential” individuals
and spoke to them all personally.
In order to build strong relationships with key
stakeholders on campus I arranged various meetings with
members of the University’s communications team and
during these meetings I explained the value of the BAT
and the competitive advantage it provides students with. I
emphasized that students from the University of
Newcastle would be missing out if they did not get the
opportunity to participate as all other universities in the
UK already regularly offer the BAT on campus.
What really made my campaign successful was the fact
that I managed to identify a motivated and enthusiastic
Student Experience Officer who immediately understood
the benefits of the BAT and actively helped to promote
my sessions. Finding support on campus can be difficult,
so you have to be perseverant and resourceful!
“My recommendation to any future
ambassador would be to maintain good
relations with key personnel in your school
and not to be shy when engaging in face to
face meetings.”

My story: how I got involved
Ambassador Testimonial: Amy Price
Cardiff University, United Kingdom
The programme has developed my organisational skills as
I was managing the whole process entirely on my own. It
has also taught me how to transform creative ideas into
strategic actions. The programme allows you to network
with interesting people from around the world; both at
events and online via Email Facebook and other social
networking sites.
I would recommend the programme to anyone that
wants something different on your CV; it will definitely
make you stand out because there are so many projects
you can get involved with through the programme. If
you're part of the winning team in the International Team
Challenge, you could even be rewarded with an all-
expenses paid trip to London to attend the event of the
year: B*Awarded!
My favourite part of the programme has been being given
the opportunity to meet a range of different people; not
just at Bloomberg but also within my international team,
with other members being from Germany, Bulgaria and
many others!
My story: how I got involved
I first heard about the BAT through the Career Services department
on Campus and wanted to take it because I thought it would be
something different to put on my CV. Everyone is always saying
that top marks at university are no longer enough to stand out, so
being able to highlight my competitive strengths via my BAT scores
is incredibly valuable.
After taking the BAT I was contacted asking if I would like to
interview for the Bloomberg Campus Ambassador role.
I jumped at the chance to get involved with something that
would not only benefit my skills and CV but also other students
on Campus because many didn't even know the test existed!
Facebook is one of the best ways of spreading the
message that the BAT is happening on Campus. I also
spoke to as many people as possible, giving my personal
honest opinion of the benefits of taking the test to
increase participation numbers. Through Facebook and
face-to-face interactions I created a real buzz about the
test and sessions at Cardiff are always fully booked within
days of posting the test online!
I think one of my biggest successes has been seeing the
numbers of test takers increase so significantly and
receiving such overwhelmingly positive feedback. With
nearly 100% wanting to take the next test, I can tell that I
have definitely made a difference on campus, which is a
great achievement personally and professionally!

“I would recommend the programme to
anyone who wants something different
on their CV – it will definitely make you
stand out!”
“My target for the next academic year is to
be able to reach out to all the different
academic schools and show non- Business
School students that they can also benefit
from taking the test.”
Ambassador Testimonial: Kevin Hellegård Nielsen
Copenhagen Business School, Denmark
Since the BAT was not offered at my university’s or any
other school near me before I introduced it, I didn't hear
about the BAT until I was asked to join the ambassador
program….So I did some research and realized that the
BAT is a truly unique opportunity for students and I really
wanted to take it myself.
The BAT allows you to assess yourself against a global
peer group in a more practical manner than most exams
at school would allow you to. Furthermore, you can gain
access to a wide range of top multinational firms as well
as smaller asset management firms or hedge funds who
only recruit once every two years!
Now on top of all those benefits, it is also free of charge
to participate, so I recognized that it is a MUST to make
the BAT available on my campus.
“I knew that by being part of the BAT
Ambassador Program I could add
incredible value to my CV. “
I participated in the 2013 International Team Challenge and
my colleague and I were appointed Team Leaders of a group
of 10 ambassadors from universities around Europe. We had
ambassadors from Slovenia, the UK, Bulgaria, Finland and
Croatia on our team – a truly international group of people!
As Team Leaders it was our responsibility to ensure all
members of our team stayed motivated throughout the
challenge and had the opportunity to share ideas and come
up with strategies together.
It was a very enriching experience and I hope to stay in touch
with the members of our team in the future, both in a
personal and professional context.
I would definitely recommend the program to anyone who
wants to get a head-start in their career, get to know some
great people and learn some new skills.
Kevin Hellegård Nielsen
Bloomberg BAT Ambassador 2012-2013
I did not find the programme too time consuming as I
had full control over when to run sessions which meant
I could avoid sessions during the exam time to ensure I
could focus 100% on my studies.
By working in a team of two on campus we also split the
workload evenly, hence reducing the time investment
required per person.
“Having a company like Bloomberg on my CV
is a unique opportunity since I am keen to
pursue a career in finance, and Bloomberg is
definitely a household name in the Finance
sector. “
