We are very excited by the success of our 3rd shift EAST

operation that occurred the last two days. I think it really

reinforces our vision of how such a long-distance international

collaboration with remote experimental operation can be a

great success. We certainly appreciate all of the hard work

by the dedicated group of people on both sides of the

Pacific who made the 3rd shift operation possible.

• Problems:– The core checkpoint device(Hefei) was

overloaded to manage domestic and international VPN network meantime.

– The Checkpoint devices gave rise to the packet loss which is 1-4.5% with design traffic.

– The domestic VPN transfer rate is slow, about 10 Mbps.

Collaborative Network structure optimization (2014)

• Solution to improve Collaboration Network’s availability :

– Separate the domestic and international VPN network

– Change the VPN network structure from star to mesh topology

– Replace the Checkpoint equipment to the VPN module with WAN acceleration in domestic VPN network

Network Successfully supported the fusion research and remote experiment for ASIPP in whatever China-US case or ITER project nowadays.

The Challenge to the current network performance increased dramatically, especially when ITER would come to real in the near future.

The domestic link such as Hefei to Peking would be under great pressure with the demanding.

The difficulty of network trouble shooting evolved in a global collaborative environment.
