Dear Church Family,
I wanted to thank you very much for
all your cards and notes during the
Pastor's Appreciation month
(October). You've been family to my
family and me. Also, I'm very grateful
to each one of you for making me a
better Pastor every day. Thank you

Dear Church Family, It's always a joy and a blessing to share what's on my mind with you. Time goes by so fast. It was not long ago when I heard the grown-ups say it when I was a child. Now, as a parent, it is so much a reality I have to deal with every day—and it's already November! One thing that comes to my mind when we get to this part of the year is gratitude. Of course, as you may guess, fear of winter is also on my mind! But, "being grateful" is something that helps me look at my feelings about winter with a different set of eyes. Instead of not liking this season, I choose to focus on the fact that winter has a beginning and an end, just like all other things we face in life. Lately, I am learning how to be thankful for everything, especially in light of what my family and I have gone through. Out of my reflection on thankfulness, I will be talking about four ways being grateful can change us. And, we will do it throughout this month (November) in worship. Paul encourages us to "give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV). We do it not only because it is what God wants us to do all the time, but it is, more importantly, beneficial to each one of us: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. So, every time you show gratitude and say thanks to God, remember that you're not just doing it for God. The one who gets the benefits of being thankful is not God, but you. Not only do you benefit from showing gratitude, but being thankful changes who you are and how you see the world around you. I know you may feel that there isn't much to be thankful for today. Let me tell you, that's not right. It is only that we don't pay enough attention to the good in us and around us, and then think there is nothing significant to be grateful for in life. So, don't miss church this month as we learn all about how to be grateful and how this changes us. See you in worship! "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV). Pastor Emmanuel
