temperature of the outlet steam. DeSuperheater can be classified into two:
a. Non-Integral type DeSuperheater: where DeSuperheater nozzle and water valve are separate units
b. Integral type DeSuperheater: where DeSuperheater is in-built with actuator so that there is no need of separatespray water valve
DeSuperheater nozzles are also classified into:
a. Venturi type: Where nozzle orifice is fixed irrespective of flow variation
b. Variable orifice: where orifice area opening will vary according to the flow and pressure variations
Applications
PRDS and DeSuperheaters are used in all Process and Power Plants where steam service is involved. Typicalapplications are in Boiler steam, Turbine by-pass, Attemperator, HRSG (Heat recovery steam Generation), and typicalProcess application where steam temperature and Pressure are critical.
Turbine Bypass valve
Auxillary PRDS
Turbine Gland Sealing
Pegging Steam
Attemperator
Benefits at a glance
Normally steam will be produced in the Boiler with high pressure and temperature and depending on the processrequirement, pressure and temperature will be reduced at the consumption point at the plant. This will help to reducethe energy losses during the transmission.
PRDS used in turbine bypass application help to protect the turbine during start-up, power trip and also for part loadgeneration. Turbine by pass valve will prevent venting of steam into atmosphere and allow the steam to be dumpedinto condenser so that energy can be saved to generate high temperature Boiler Feed Water.
Applications
Thermal Power Plants and Cogeneration Plants
All process plants like Fertilizers, Petrochemical, Refineries, Pharmaceuticals, Sugar Pulp & Paper, Steel etc.
