What’s Aerospace & Defense Meetings Torino ?Aerospace & Defense Meetings is the only international business convention for the aerospace and defense industry organized in Italy, based on a programme of pre-arranged meetings. In just 2 days, all participating companies have the chance of meeting and build up targeted business relations and developing new projects with enterprises from all over the world. For big players and primes this is a unique occasion to optimize time in the research of new suppliers and solutions.

The programme includes a scientific agenda that consists in collateral events, thematic workshops, OEMs procurement & supply chain policy sessions, innovative seminars and a key conference dealing with the latest and most crucial topics of the

aerospace sector.

A few participants in the 2011 edition: Avic, Boeing, Casic, Embraer, General Electric, Saab, together with the Italian Alenia Aermacchi, Avio, Thales Alenia Space, Selex Galileo and Microtecnica, a Goodrich Company. Several Aerospace clusters and associations joined the event: Advantage Austria, Aerospace Cluster in Rhône-Alpes, Bavairia e.V., Eurocentro Nafin Mexico, Forum Luft- und Raumfahrt Baden-Württemberg, as well as the italian ones in Campania, Umbria, Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Puglia and Lombardia regions.

OUR CONCEPT

We were present to the Aerospace and Defense meeting 2011 edition and we had the opportunity to meet suppliers with interesting expertise in the aerospace field. This event has been a good occasion to meet new suppliers and exchanging ideas and reciprocal knowledge with the aerospace community. With the BtoB meeting we had the possibility to organize significant meetings with potential new suppliers and today with some of them we are discussing potential collaboration. The BCI organization was extremely efficient and allows the 2 days event to be effective and fruitful.

The Aerospace & Defense Meetings Torino in 2011 was a very powerful event. Avio participated as always with a large group of people, from different department; we were there with our Scouting team from Avio’s Purchasing and we all performed BtoB meetings with most of the companies attending the event. We will be at the 2013 edition; we recommend the event to any company willing to consolidate or to discover the aerospace business in Italy, being the Piemonte region home of the Italian largest aerospace cluster.

In Piemonte, the aerospace sector is one of the productive and scientific excellences, confirming the regional vocation for technological innovation. In terms of wealth and resources, the Piedmontese aerospace industry employs approximately 12.500 people, with an annual turnover of around 2.6 billion €.

Five regional players stand out both at the national and international level: Alenia Aermacchi, Thales Alenia Space, Avio, Selex Galileo, Microtecnica, a Goodrich Company. 300 SMEs operate alongside, whose technological and manufacturing processes are compatible with the technical standards (quality, accuracy, ability in handling special materials etc.) required by the sector.

The Piedmontese aerospace industry has a good ability to operate internationally, as certified by the amount of programmes – both commercial and military – in which local companies play a significant role. The list includes: Boeing 777, 767 and 787 Dreamliner, Airbus A321, A340-500/600 and A380, Falcon 2000 and EX, Eurofighter Typhoon, C27J, ATR42, NH90 and EH101, Sukhoi SuperJet 100, F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), Tornado, Super Lynx, Bombardier C-Series, Neuron. More than half of the SMEs have foreign companies among their clients, both European and oversea.

The Piemonte supply chain is complete and offers:• final producers of complex subsystems

• suppliers of parts, components or functional groups that are incorporated in these subsystems

• subcontractors of specialized manufacturing and equipment.

The spectrum of technological and manufacturing know-how is wide: metallurgy, mechanics, electromechanics, electronics, manufacturing and processing of plastics, rubber and all materials used in many complex systems.

Thanks to the presence of the Politecnico di Torino – whose activity in the sector is of great relevance in terms of engineering training and research & development – and of other specialized research centers, Piemonte provides the necessary support to design and R&D activities to sustain business.
