This past spring, a small group from the StageSource board met to discuss the best way to celebrate StageSource’s 30th birthday. The idea of a gala was mentioned, but as quickly it was tossed out. “That’s not who we are,” one wise board member said. So the idea of a rolling anniversary party was born. The idea is simple. A member organization designates a performance a StageSource Night (or Day), we figure out a promo code for the event (which we send out on our weekly enews), and either before the show or after the show StageSource board members and I talk about the organization, and thank our hosts. These events, combined with our Parity Parties, keep the social calendar full. But they do more than that. They celebrate the reason StageSource continues to work—because of the wonder that is the New England theater community.
The strength of StageSource is that is a membership organization for both individuals and organizations. The power comes from the breadth and depth of the community it serves. Granted, StageSource’s work isn’t glamorous, nor does it garner much attention. But StageSource weaves a web of connections that supports both individuals and organizations in creating theater. We do it through weekly postings, the StageSource Job Fair (Feb 21); the StageSource Auditions (April); classes and workshops; our online database for talent; parties; the script library in our office; the Gender Parity Task Force, the New England New Play Alliance, and other advocacy efforts; our biennial conference; town halls and convenings; MyStagePage.com; the Circle of Friends card program; this StagePage and other programs we create, or we partner with other organizations to develop.
The passion of StageSource comes from the New England theater community we have been supporting for 30 years. We would not exist without that passion, our members, and our donors. As a non-profit arts service organization, StageSource is largely funded through memberships, but donations fill the gap. Please try and join us at a StageSource Night, or come to an event this spring. Let’s celebrate these 30 years together.

spotlight on StageSource Spring 2016!The New Year is upon us and it feels like it was just yesterday we were
basking in the summer sun. This fall we held our first series of StageSource
Nights to celebrate 30 years of StageSource in the community which were
a huge success! Coming up in the Spring, we’ll introduce more StageSource
Nights, and professional development workshop series on Creative
Campaigns, Audition Workshops, Auditions, and our 30th Anniversary Town
Hall event. Our weekly E-Newsletter and website will let you know when all of
these things are coming up and when registrations open, so make sure your
membership is up-to-date! We look forward to seeing you at the theater!
