Ecostar - compact production cell for high quality tubes

Due to the Ecostar’s flexible roll-forming and clamping concept, round and oval short tubes can be produced - freely programmable and without any exchange components.

The basic Ecostar production module comprises of an infeed table, a multi-roller roll-forming unit, a push-out transport system, and a run through welding unit with a flexible clamping concept and stationary welding optics.

Servo motor-driven chains first clamp and then transport the tube, which is to be welded, underneath the stationary welding optics.

Different laser welding sources in all performance categories can be integrated into the Ecostar.

Whether the blank comes from a coil or a stack, it is positioned on the infeed table and is then transported into the roll-forming machine by the infeeder.

The multi-roller roll-forming pro-cess allows for the manufacture of any tube geometry due to the freely programmable position of the upper roller.

Tube diameter dependent tools are not required to take advantage of the Ecostar’s full working range.

Perfect roll-forming results can be realised due to the inclusion of an edge pre-bending station. The die plate and bending die com-pensate for any contour deviations at the weld edge.

Flexible clamping and welding for a sheet thickness of up to 2.0 mm

The flexible guide basket forms the core of the Ecostar machine. Its innovative clamping concept allows for automatic diameter adjustments due to its adjustable transport chains.

The roll-forming process begins automatically after a sheet has been fed into the machine. The tube is then transferred to the welding machine, where it is welded utilising a run-through workflow.

The servo motor-driven transport chains effortlessly transport tubes through the welding area. Any adjustments necessary for a diameter change are executed radially via a motor-driven screw jack system.

Alternating production allows tubes with differing diameters to be manufactured easily.

Different laser welding sources in all performance categories can be integrated into the Ecostar.

From blank to tube

The seam planishing station is one example of how the welding seam can be treated in the finishing process.

Precision tubes, which are expanded or reduced in preparation for further processing, require seam preparation at higher degrees of roll-forming.

Seam planishing compensates for a possible height offset and improves forming properties.

Annealing reduces material tension in the welding area.

The forming and welding of tubes with a diameter of less than 75 mm and wall thickness of up to 2 mm requires a new concept.

The ECOSTAR 100/1000 has been specially designed for the manufacture of short tubes of smaller and medium batch sizes.

The smallest tube diameter of 30 mm can be roll-formed over a length of up to 1000 mm within the solid machine housing thanks to the freely programmable die form.

Multiple production enables higher output

Up to four blanks can be roll-formed simultaneously.

No exchange components

Up to four forming tools, for four different tube diameters, can be set up on each tool carrier. The operator can switch between these different diameters by the press of a button, without time consuming machine downtime. The adjustable clamping basket, with its innovative transport chains, transports the tube underneath the stationary welding optics in a run-through workflow. Thanks to this efficient process, up to four tubes can be produced within 15 to 20 seconds.
