Audlem Parish Council Chairman's Reporl May 2016 The year started with Parish Council elections whlch resulted in Bil Consterdine re-joininS the Council. He has been ioined by rwo new co-opted Councillors, JohnThompson and Ceri Parsons,to whom we extend a very warm welcome. There have been two significant successes for the vi lage in the last twe ve months. . After many. ma',ty 1oL-s of voluncee' co-n_iit_1ert invo ving some very complex documentation, the Audlem Neighbourhood Plan successfully cleared the Referendum hurdle, wlth 96.7% voting in favour. It was then 'made' (approved) by Cheshire East Counc on l2th Apri 2016. This has now become a statutory document which must be given weight as a'rnaterial consideration in future planning decision- mal<ing. . The efforts of Aud em's large and en usiastic contingent of volunteers were rewarded when the village swept the board at the Cheshire Community Action Awards last Autumn. Successes included winning the Community Spirit Award, Best Kept Viilage for its size, Best Community Vy'ebsite and Best OverallVillage/Small Town in Cheshire. Both of these successes were due to people giving up their own time to help the communily; a real demonstration of localism' in actlon. A huge vote of thanks to everyone involved.
