Project background
Temperature monitoring project with BAMA
• recording movements of products with exact identities
• RFID tags on mixed salads
• monitoring temperatures from cold stores along the chain
• storing information, including expiration dates
Extension: Smart Vareflyt and NorgesGruppen add a retail store
• EPCIS from Matiq for movements at store
Application: Product Champion for monitoring remaining shelf life
• uses expiration date

Slide #5 Increase remaining shelf life - Scanpack, Göteborg - 20. October 2009
Case 1: Chain from factory to store
1
3
This is a look back into history doneby the product manager at Lier andthe shop manager at Meny (together)
1: configure the search multiple locations + single product
2: play with the sorting of the acceptable-column to find the natural fragmentation from source to destination (3524 -> 61 -> 3)
3: inspect the items that went all the way and see that they spent few days in store and had good remaining shelf life -> “good balance”
4: inspect items that spent too long time before being forwareded -> “we have a problem”

Case 2: Items sent from Kalbakken
1
2
4
This is a look back into history, by the warehouse manager
1: configure the search one location + all products
2: inspect the results, show that 17 items of Ost/Skinke had few days in store and long remaining shelf life = GOOD!
3: inspect single item of “unacceptable” status
4: many days in store and short shelf life is not good = BAD!
5: use Navigator to look for other problems - both the station log and the temperature graph is OK – no other problem
Conclusion: It should have been stopped!

Case 3: Inventory at Lier
1
2
3
This is “today's” inventory, by the warehouse manager
1: configure the search one location + all products
2: inspect the results and give attention to items close to expiration
3: inspect details about a selected item (bad) too many days in store and too short shelf life remaining to be sellable
Conclusion: Don't sell, use in the canteen
