Hello Everyone,

Welcome to our August newsletter, we hope everyone is

enjoying the glorious weather!

Our ‘Summer Nights’ evening held on Friday 13th July went

with a bang and was a great success with everyone enjoying

the Ukulele Band and ‘Missin Tackle’. Massive thanks must go

to David’s Fish and Chips for once again providing hot, tasty

food for our revellers and to both bands for donating their time

for free.

We raised £1,510.50 which is a fantastic amount.

Best wishes

Jo

Preheat oven to 200c/180c fan/Gas 6. In a roasting tray, toss together the squash, fresh chillies, cumin, chilli flakes, salt and pepper and all but one tablespoon of the oil. Roast for 30minutes, turning half-way through, until the squash has caramelised. Leave to cool slightly. Heat the remaining tablespoon of oil in a frying pan and slightly wilt the pak choi for a minute or so, then put in a serving dish to cool slightly. To make the dressing, whisk the vinegar and oil together in a bowl, then add the spring onions and season with the salt and pepper. Scatter the squash, baby spinach and olives over the pak choi, mix, then scatter over the goats cheese and drizzle the dressing on top.

Notes, News and Events

Monday 6th August our film will be ‘Second Chorus’.

Two music students, rather than face the responsibilities of life, repeatedly fail their exams so that they can stay in college. The students change their attitude, however, when they meet a woman who agrees to be their manager and both attempt to woo her as a way of getting a job in Artie Shaw's band. Featuring the Oscar-nominated `Would You Like to Be the Love of My Life?'. Monday 20th August our film will be ‘Pal Joey’ Joey Evans (Frank Sinatra) is a philandering San Francisco-based singer with big dreams of starting his own night club, "Chez Joey," but chasing women keeps him even more occupied. De-spite making a meaningful connection with lovely chorus girl Linda English (Kim Novak), it doesn't stop him from seducing the wealthy widow, and ex-burlesque dancer, Vera Simpson (Rita Hayworth), who he hopes will bankroll his club. Ultimately, Joey has to decide who -- and what -- he most wants in life.

Coming soon on Monday 3rd September…..

‘The Pirate’ Starring Judy Garland and Gene Kelly, a musical romance with melodies by Cole Porter.
