Objectives (i) To provide energy through non-edible vegetable oils for rural people in far flung areas for lighting, agricultural operations and other community based stationary applications such as drinking water, gharats etc.(ii) To test the performance of stationary engines with different types of non-edible vegetable oils in field conditions.(iii) To study techno,-economic parameters for end use in selected rural locations in the country.(iv) To set up institutional arrangements for collection, storage, oil extraction of non-vegetable oil seeds and operation of stationary engines using bio-oil on sustainable basis.
R&D Activities Under the Project:
(i) Studies aimed at testing engine performance parameters such as speed, brake horsepower, and electricity produced in KWh or capacity in KW, deposits on the engine components etc. through a nearest Engineering Institution from the village site.(ii) Studies aimed at physio-chemical characterization of different locally available/usable non-edible vegetable oils in selected laboratories.(iii) Co-ordination with manufacturers of stationary diesel engines for engine modifications, if required.(iv) Development of operation and maintenance mechanism for stationary engines.(v) Monitoring and evaluation of Project including operation & socia-economic aspects, users feedback, impact assessment.
