Occupation description Being a preschool teacher can be a lot
of hard work. Everyday you need to teach young kids, up to five years old, by doing activities that promote social, physical, and intellectual growth.
Tasks Set rules for behavior and maintaining order. Teach basic skills such as color, numbers,
letters, personal hygiene, and social skills. Attend to basic needs such as feeding,
dressing, and changing dippers. Give a variety and resources for the children
to explore, in both learning activities and imaginative play.
Demonstrate different kind of activities to the children.
Tools and technology
You will need to know how to use educational software, data entry software, email software, Microsoft excel, computers, and cameras.
You will need to have educational toys, blocks, and board games.
Skills Skills you need to learn quickly are
things like learning strategies, monitoring, social perceptiveness, coordination, active listening, and speaking.
Education and Training Teachers in New York State are required to have a
bachelors and masters degree in Education. Many colleges in Western New York train students
to become teachers such as SUNY Fredonia, Buffalo State University.
You need previous work related skill, or experience. Training in vocational schools, related on the job
experience, or an associates degree is needed. You also need one or two years of training involving
both on the job experience, and informal training with experienced workers.

anywhere from $20940 to $39350 a year, depending on how much experience you have, and how well you have done.
