The Student Summit for Sustainability (SSS) is a 5-day meeting created for youth leaders to tackle issues concerning sustainable development. The University of Tokyo Student Community (UTSC) for Sustainable Development expanded/developed the SSS from the WSC-SD (World Student Community) Annual Meeting in order to further clarify the role of students in the society. The SSS will take place in the University of Tokyo and in a specially chosen field site from March 5 to 9, 2007.

The Summit is entitled Taking Action for Global Sustainability, urging youth leaders to take responsible ownership of the future and encouraging them to take action. By communicating visions, ideas, and goodwill among students with diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, SSS participants acquire a systematic and holistic point of view. Participants learn to collaborate with other disciplines in creating for society a coordinated application of their knowledge. Participants come home with an awareness of how to stimulate socially responsible entrepreneurships within their community. In sum, the vision is to form leaders with new values that will shift the worlds social and economic system dramatically.
