One of the highlights of vacationing is without a doubt the food, and there are so many ways to save on dining! Here are five easy tips that you can use to keep your food spending in check:

Make a budget and meal plan: A little planning can go a long way. Make a daily budget and if you’re going to eat out, plan which days you’ll visit which restaurants. When you know you’re having a great lunch or dinner, it makes passing up those splurge churros and Mickey treats a little easier.

Buy before you go: If you are able to pre-purchase packaged food before your vacation, you’ll save a lot of time and money. Nuts, crackers, granola bars, trail mix and fruit snacks are great to have on-hand on travel days and throughout your trip – especially during those in-between meal times.

Stay at a hotel with free breakfast: There are many hotel partners that offer a free breakfast – and a few that are exclusive to Get Away Today guests. Pay attention to the type of breakfast offered by your hotel keeping in mind that some offer a small continental while others have a full buffet style or even cook-to-order options.

Cook while on vacation: Many of our hotels have a fridge and/or microwave in the guest rooms and some even offer a full kitchen. If your hotel doesn’t come with a free breakfast, you can easily store milk, cereal and other breakfast foods. Some hotels even offer free grocery shopping and delivery service, so all you have to do is pay for your groceries.

Sharing meals and eating smaller portions throughout the day is also smart for theme park days.
