3 Development Status Report May 2014
The findings of this report are conservative but indicate a total development spend for our region well in excess of $11 billion

EXECUTIVE SUMMARYThe following Development Status Report for the Toowoomba region highlights the significant levels of investment within the area. The projects listed within this publication are categorised into four different phases of development. These are Projects Underway, Projects Approved and Awaiting Commencement, Projects Proposed and Projects Recently Completed.
Acknowledged limitations of this report are that it excludes some key information from developments where commercial-in-confidence arrangements currently exist or information was not yet able to be made publically available. These are marked in the report as ‘TBA’. It also excludes a vast number of developments under the $2 million construction cost threshold. Taking into account these limiting factors, the findings of this report are conservative but indicate a total development spend for the region well in excess of $11 billion, more than $5 billion on the indicated spend figure six months ago. Within this figure, $1.66 billion will be spent building the long-awaited Toowoomba Second Range Crossing, with construction to begin in 2015. Other large infrastructure projects, such as the Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport and Interlink SQ, both currently underway, also contributed significantly to development spend in the region. Proposed projects for the region, which include the Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail Project and a new Bunnings, totalled more than $5.8 billion, while projects currently underway totalled more than $3.5 billion. Projects approved and awaiting commencement totalled more than $2.1 billion.
The chart below graphically demonstrates the report’s findings:
TSBE would like to thank the companies that contributed information to this document. They are formally acknowledged at the end of the report. Any proponent with information to be included in future editions can contact TSBE on (07) 4639 4600.
