Lost and Found Once when our daughter, Paige was about 3 years old, we took her to the park to watch her brother play baseball. As the game went on we focused on our son’s play as our daughter wandered off to the playground nearby. Paige, however, did not stop at the playground, she kept going. She wandered out of the ball diamond area, past the playground, across the soccer fields and into the parking lot. We were frantically looking for her. We stopped the game and asked everyone to look for our lost little girl. Paige did not know she was lost, she was just exploring. On and on she went. When we were are almost in a panic and I was about to call the police there came an old gentleman, holding Paige by the hand. Walking across the parking lot he said; “Did you lose this little one?” He said he was just out on a walk and this little girl walked up to him and took his hand. He knew she was lost so he brought her back to the ball diamond. For her mother and I it was a miracle. For Paige, I imagine, she did not realize she was lost until it was too late to find her way back. So being scared she reached out for help. A kind gentleman brought her to safety once she reached out. When I think back on that moment when we lost our child and she was at the mercy of another, I am reminded of how it is for God and for us when we are lost and alone. Often, we wander off looking for things that are good. We wander from God and we are unaware we are lost until it seems we are too far gone to find our way back. It is then we reach for help. With God there is always a kind and forgiving hand to lead us home. This is the story of God’s grace. This Lenten season our theme for worship and study is, Lost and Found. We
will be looking at what it means to be lost, the things that cause us to reach out for help and the Grace of God that leads us home. This is the Christian story of sin and redemption; lost and found. I hope you will join us in
worship, at our Ash Wednesday Service on March 6th at 7:00 pm at the West Campus and for our Lenten retreat; Life Without Reservation, on March 8th and 9th. The Lenten experience is one from lost to found. I hope this year
you will join us on this spiritual journey.
- Pastor Jim
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see.

What a Friend You Have in Stephen Ministry
“What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit, Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer!”
What a Friend We Have in Jesus, Joseph M. Scriven, 1855
This familiar hymn verse brings to mind the eternal truth of the love and care our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ brings to us every day. Rest for the weary “Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” – Matthew 11:29-30 Stephen Ministry cares deeply for the weary. We are dedicated to joining hands, counseling, and lifting up in prayer those who carry burdens too great to bear. Here are some of the ways we can help:

Angel Tree Prison Ministry During this past Christmas season full of faith and hope – when you could have chosen so many
ways to express your love of Jesus Christ – thank you so much for saying “yes” to God through
your support and participation in the Angel Tree Prison Ministry. The children of prisoners
often experience abandonment, loneliness and shame that comes from having a dad or mom in
prison. Through your efforts, Grace PC blessed the hearts of 107 of these precious kiddos that
live right here in our community.

It's Pajama Day! Don't worry about Daylight Savings Time, just
roll out of bed and head to church for breakfast. The children of
Grace and Girl Scout Troop 227 are teaming up once again to
collect pajamas for the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. On Sunday,
March 10, 2019 we will be serving pancakes and sausage in
the Central Campus Social Hall. Join us for breakfast, coffee, and
juice, and drop off a pair of pajamas...or more...for the 30-40
children and teens the Rescue Mission houses every night. Pajamas must be new, and can be
any size, infant-adult. Breakfast will be served from 9:10 a.m. - 10:20 a.m. All children and
Children's Ministry volunteers are encouraged to wear pajamas to church for the event. If you
would like to be part of the cooking team at the West
Campus, please contact Rhonda at [email protected],
or Heather Palmer at [email protected].
WOMEN OF GRACE
The Women of Grace (WOG) are excited as plans are underway for this upcoming year.
Beginning March 7th, Kathy Koch will be leading a Bible study at Central Campus starting at
Noon. The theme for the remainder of the year will be, “Growing Older with Grace”. She will
be guided by the book, “Nearing Home” by Billy Graham. The discussion will focus on
“finishing well” as we each face the next phase of our life. Bring your lunch and join us in the
Fireside Room for a time of fellowship and study.
Throughout March, WOG will be supporting the Senior Food Project of Lutheran Social
Services. Package and canned foods can be brought to either campus. At Central, food can be
placed in the basket in the Narthex or in the wooden school house in Fellowship Hall. Providing
food staples will allow many seniors to stretch their tight food budgets.
Finally, mark your calendars for our spring event, “A Taste of Scotland” to be held May 4,
2019 at the Central Campus from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Janice Laird (702-401-2378) is the event
chairperson. If you would like to volunteer in some way, contact Janice for more details. An
afternoon of fun, food and fellowship is being planned. Tickets will go on sale in April. Stay
tuned for more details!!

Batter Up! It is hard to believe that nearly a year has passed since we went to Cashman Field for the 51’s baseball game. It is time to plan for the 2019 game night with the Aviators. This year we will attend a game at the exciting new Las Vegas Ball Park located on Pavilion Drive, East of Red Rock Casino, in Summerlin. The construction has been coming along very nicely with a scheduled opening of April 4th. Our game night is scheduled for May 3rd with a start time of 7:05 p.m. Tickets will be $15 each, regardless of age. Ticket sales will be on the patio at the Central Campus and West Campus every Sunday in March after the 10:30 service. Please see us on the patio or at the West Campus to purchase your tickets. Project Neon As a part of our Congregational meeting our attorneys presented the following report: Congregation, We are now in the middle of the discovery process in the NDOT litigation. We have just received discovery requests from NDOT and propounded the same to them. Upon completion of the first round of written discovery, we will be engaging in depositions and preparing expert reports. Expert reports will determine the amount of just compensation we believe are owed to the Church for the takings we allege, including damages to the property as a result of Project Neon. Initial expert reports are due at the end of May. After the initial expert reports are exchanged, the parties have agreed to attend a Court facilitated settlement conference. We believe this will be the first opportunity to potentially resolve the case as both sides will have an idea of the exposure it faces. If the parties cannot do so, we will continue with the discovery process and exchange rebuttal expert reports. A few months after the exchange of rebuttal reports, discovery closes. Once discovery closes, we will engage in motion practice and prepare for trial. Our trial is set for a 5 week stack on March 16, 2020 (which means that we can go on any of the five weeks beginning on March 16). While this may sound far away, this approximate year period allows for all the discovery and motion practice to occur which is necessary to prepare for trial. While we work through this process, we will be keeping you updated on developments. Also, we have been in contact with the City of Las Vegas as they have made an offer for a taking of 403 square feet on the north side of the Property off Charleston Boulevard for their Streetscape Project. The improvements in the proposed acquisition area by the City consist of landscaping improvements such as decorative rock, trees and bushes. We are still gathering information about this project and will report back as we proceed to understand the scope of potential impact on the Church’s property. Thank you for your continued support and patience as we undergo this important legal process to protect the Church’s Constitutional rights.
