Introduction to KB [KnowledgeBase]

This is to bring awareness among the Tally BSS (Rubaroo) users about the availability of KB [KnowledgeBase].

What is KB?

It is a centralized repository for information: a public library, a database of related information about a particular subject.

A knowledge base is a machine-readable resource for the dissemination of information, generally online or with the capacity to be put online.

An integral component of knowledge management systems.

Knowledge base is used to optimize information collection, organize the available knowledge and retrieval of this knowledge, thereby making the same available at all levels within the organization.

What does KB in our BSS contain?

It contains articles/contents/information on all our Tally products, which includes functional and technical aspects of the same.

It contains information in the form of Queries/Solutions and FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions), as contents and taxonomies.

What is a Content?

Content refers to information/article available independently in KB.

The information could be related to functional or technical aspects of the product.

Example of a content:

Q: What is system keyboard and phonetic keyboard?

A: System keyboard is the default keyboard available in your windows system. Phonetic keyboard is a utility, used for typing words in other languages by using the pronunciation of words using English alphabets.

What is a Taxonomy?

Taxonomy refers to availability of all related contents in a hierarchical manner for a particular topic.

For Example: All contents on Synchronization are available collectively in a single taxonomy in a hierarchical manner, as shown below:

What is KB Search?

KB Search refers to the search engine of our Knowledge Management, like any other search engine available in the internet.

You can simply type the search keyword under ‘Look for’ and select the product, say Any, Tally, Tally Developer, Shoper POS, etc., for ‘In product’ and opt for any of the Search Types, i.e., All Words / Any Word / Exact Phrase, under ‘Match’ and click on ‘Go’ button.

Search Results

Once a key word is searched based on the search type selected, the articles/contents related to the key word, will get displayed under ‘Search Results’.

The article/content titles will be displayed along with the taxonomy (book mark) if the same are linked to a taxonomy.

What are the other functions available in KB Search screen?

Top Items: Contains top ten articles/contents based on rating done by readers, suggested reading and most viewed, from where the reader can access the articles/contents directly.

Most Recent Items: Recently published articles/contents (of last 15 days) can be viewed through this option.

Feedback: You can forward your comments from here.

Case Study articles: Articles/Contents on Case Study available here.

Troubleshooting articles: Troubleshooting on all the Tally products can be collectively viewed through this option.
