Posadas Posada means “lodging”. This tradition consists on families symbolically retracing the journey of the Virgin Mary and Joseph on the night that Jesus was born by dressing up and hitting a piñata afterwards. Villancicos Villancicos are similar to Christmas carols; these are songs with holidays-related lyrics and include the traditional sounds of maracas, guitars, tambourines, etc. Parrandas Parranda is a tradition where friends overtake other friends’ homes while playing musical instruments, dancing and eating. And yes, it is a big party! Tamaladas These are parties where families and friends gather to prepare the so famous tamales. Tamales are different all across Latin America, but we can all agree that these are the heart the holidays. Día de los Reyes Magos Celebrated on January the 6th, it honors the Three Wise Men who visited the newborn Jesus. Children receive gifts from “Los Reyes Magos” and families gather together to eat “rosca” and take down the Christmas ornaments together. contenido religioso. Sonalegres y se caracterizan por

los cálidos sonidos de la culturalatina como maracas, guitarras

y tambores. Parrandas La parranda es una tradiciónoriginaria de Puerto Rico en

donde amigos y familia“asaltan” las casas vecinas

mientras tocan instrumentos,bailan, comen y beben. Sinduda es una fiesta que se

celebra en grande. 

Tamaladas Las tamaladas son fiestas endonde  familia y amigos se

reúnen a preparar los famosostamales. Aunque los tamales son

distintos en cada país deAmérica Latina, todos

coincidimos en que son elcorazón de las fiestas

decembrinas. 

Día de los Reyes Magos

El 6 de enero se festeja la visita que los Tres Reyes Magos le

hicieron al niño Jesús. Éstos tres le llevaron regalos para honrarlas buenas nuevas. Así, los niños

de Latinoamérica reciben regalos, y las familias se reúnen a comer rosca y guardar la decoración

navideña para el próximo año. 

PupusasOriginarias de El Salvador, laspupusas están hechas de masade harina rellenas de curtido o

salsa de tomate.   Son tan pupulares que cadaNoviembre se celebra el Día

Nacional de la Pupusa
