week received a supply of forms onwhich farmers may apply for re-fund of federal tax on gasoline used Lon the farm.

C. O. Youngstrom, associate di-rector of the University of Idaho ex- gtension service, said county agentsare cooperating with Calvin Wright, gdistrict director of the Internal Rev-enue service, in making the forms gavailable.

Refund of federal gasoline tax was gmade possible by recent legislation. ~The cards now on hand, cover gaso- Pline purchased in 1956, and used in gfarm operations between January 1 /and June 30. The claim must be flied gwith the treasury department at PBoise by October l.

Regulations provide that refunds Iare limited. to the federal tax on jgasoline used for farming purposes. <Refunds are available on gasoline /used on your farm by a custom oper-ator or neighbor in agricultural work. JNo refunds. are allowed on gaso-line used off the farm, such as in $transporting people, livestock orcrops. Neither are refunds permitted /for tax on gasoline consumed in pro- gceasing, packaging, freezing or can- Pning.
