Well done to all of our
brave year 3 and 4 chil-
dren (and parents!) for
a successful sleepover
last Friday evening. We
were blessed with
wonderful weather and
the children had an
amazing evening. One
of the boys said his fa-
vourite activity was
making a sandwich as ‘my mum always does it
for me.’ Thank you to Mrs Raj for all of her hard
work in organising the event, and to the staff
who volunteered in the evening and throughout
the night to make sure the children had lots of
fun and stayed safe. It
was most definitely our
most successful sleepover
yet!
Our PTA

We had our first safe-
guarding visit from our
new Safeguarding link
governor last week. It
was a very successful
visit with positive feed-
back on our safeguard-
ing procedures.
“The school was a joy to
visit, with plenty of evi-
dence of being a sup-
portive, caring and joy-
ous learning environ-
ment.”
All parents are welcome to attend a coffee morning on Friday, 13th July in the KS1 Hall. It will be hosted by our Rights Respect champions who will be sharing a little about what they do to promote children’s rights.
During our celebration of
Heritage Week, the pupils in
Year 5 had the opportunity to
participate in a workshop
learning about the Roma cul-
ture. Thank you to our visitors Sue, Mihai and Andrea from
the Roma Support Group charity, for sharing information
about a different and interesting culture. Year 4 spent some
time discussing World Refugee Day and writing poems to
empathise with the plight of refugees. Ibrahim in Doves class
was given a Headteacher Award by Mr Henry for his wonder-
ful acrostic poem, which you can read on our school blog.
53 children from
Year 6 have had a
very busy week. Yesterday
they visited the Passchen-
daele War Memorial Museum and experienced the Last Post
at the Menin Gate. It was a day of reflection and appreciation
of the people who fought in the war. Thank you as always to
Mrs Raj for organising the event and to Mr Cordes, Miss Fran-
cis, Miss Bull, Miss Mistry, Miss Cornwall and Miss Porter for
travelling. We really appreciate the positive comments which
many of the Year 6 parents have made regarding communica-
tion, updates by email and on the school notice board. We
even managed to post some photos on our France blog de-
spite the lack of internet, which I’m sure are appreciated by
all! We look forward to seeing them this evening.
We say farewell to Mr
Rahman this week, who
has been teaching
across the school this
academic year. We
thank him for his dedi-
cation and commitment
over the past 5 years
and wish him the very
best as he completes his
postgraduate studies.
Two teams went to Redbridge Sports Centre to
play in a High 5 (five a side) netball competition.
For some of our girls this was their first ever net-
ball match. Our A team finished 4th out of eleven teams which
was a brilliant achievement. Our newly formed team finished
in 8th place. For a newly formed team they showed great po-
tential for the future. Netball training will continue every
Monday until the end of term. Information about training
next year will be sent out in July. Well done everyone. Miss
Cornwall and Miss Cooper are very proud of you all.
Two teams of ten students from year 5 were
taken to Mayfield High School to compete in a
golf competition where they showed off their skills in a varie-
ty of golf based activities. Our B team finished in 1st place and
will go on to represent the London Borough of Redbridge in
the School Games Finals at Crystal Palace in July. This is a fan-
tastic result for the team and our school. We are extremely
proud of the children and look forward to seeing them com-
pete at Crystal Palace.
Redbridge Primary entered two crick-
et competitions recently, one for girls
and one for boys. The girls travelled
to St Aubyns School in Woodford
where they played against other
schools in the borough. They were
really nervous to start with but their
confidence grew throughout the day
and they finished in bronze medal po-
sition. The next day it was the boys
turn. Their competition was at Hai-
nault Recreation Ground, again play-
ing other schools. The competition
was tough and the boys played really
well as a team. Ayman made a fantas-
tic captain and his organisa-
tion skills shone through. Fin-
ishing fourth in their group
was a great achievement.
A team of five boys and five girls were
taken to the Olympic Park Hockey Cen-
tre to take part in a Quicksticks Hockey
Tournament. This is the first time we
have competed in a hockey competi-
tion. The team got to watch the Eng-
land Women's Hockey Team who were
gold medallists in the 2016 Olympics
and Spain in a training session. They
also had the amazing opportunity to
meet the England players where they
got to ask questions, play against and
get autographs. The team did amazing-
ly well in the competition. With their
true sportsmanship, teamwork, deter-
mination and resilience they only lost
one match out of the five matches
they played. Well played everyone.
Congratulation to all of the children who completed the Sum-
mer Meet Fun Run at Fairlop Waters. The athletes had to
complete a one mile run around Fairlop Lake. An outstanding
performance by Nikita in year 6 for finishing in 1st
place, an improvement on her 2nd place finish for
the Spring Meet. All of the children crossed the fin-
ish line. We look forward to taking more children to
the next Fun Run.
