Major Features

• RAPIDLY CHANGING LANDSCAPE

• Provides the chance to secure a University place before the HSC

• Recognises that HSC performance is not the only (or even the best) indicator of tertiary success

• Every scheme is different - in its rules, measures & difficulty

What should you do now?

Year 11 Parent Information Session

• Talk to your teachers and listen to their advice

• Aim at improving your marks from this report by an achievable amount for the Semester 2 report

• Work at focussed study vs comfort study

•Don’t leave it to the last minute

•Study timetables are worth it - stick to it within reason - break it for the things that count

•Look for “useable minutes”

•Look at Universities and Colleges over Christmas Break - go to open days this year because they are around the Trial HSC next year

•Work on your notes consistently - summary notes, dot points (Science, History, PDHPE)

Hints from Yr 12

Hints from Yr 12

•English - start writing essays now - one every 1 or 2 weeks - hand them in - know your rubrics (syllabus)

•Major works - constant effort and start early

•You’ve got to work in the holidays - but have a good break because the rest of the holidays in the year become assessment focussed.

• Self-discipline is the hardest thing - and we haven’t found any solution. Make yourself accountable!

•Good sleep patterns are important.
