Pope Francis in his exhortation about m arriage and the
family says: A love that is weak or infirm, incapable of accepting
marriage as a challenge to be taken up and fought for, reborn,
renewed and reinvented until death, cannot sustain a great
commitment. It will succumb to the culture of the ephemeral that
prevents a constant process of growth. (Par. 124)
The Feast of St. Anthony of Padua is celebrated on the 13 th of June. He
was born in Lisbon and joined the Franciscans and he was a contemporary of St.
Francis. His missionary life was varied and he eventually worked in the Italian
city of Padua. He was noted for his knowledge of the Scriptures and for his
preaching. He died in the year 1231.
