Gastroposter Fouad Makadsi had a tough

time taking sides before picking ginger. “I used ginger as one of the main ingredients in both this Thai

yellow curry and the spicy peanut shrimp skewers,” he explains. “This spicy curry with a kick of ginger will definitely keep you warm on a cold winter

evening.”

They’re both seasonal, piquant and warming, and both offer sweetness to go with their — uh, heatness.

We’re pitting ginger against cinnamon, two spices that lift many a dish from dull to delightful. It’s a rumble in the spice cupboard, and you decide the winner! Your mission this week is to eat something that includes

cinnamon or ginger — and you must pick one or the other to declare your allegiance. Which do you prefer,
