You can build this bed!
1
I’ve been working hard to come up with a set of plans that make this project a snap!
The plans allow you to build what appears to be a complicated project without needing any real woodworking experience or expensive tools you’ll never use again.
Clear and detailed

Minimum Hand Saw Framing Square Tape Measure Drill (that can drill ½” holes) Drill Bit Set (That goes up to ½”)
Saw Horses Clamps (4) “Scratch Awl” or “Center
Punch” 9/16” and 1/2” Wrenches Phillips Screwdriver Sanding Block
Recommended Upgrades Power Saw (Circular or
Compound Miter Saw) Extra Drill (To save time
swapping bits)

The plan comes with a complete material list that allows you to shop around for the best prices in your area. (A printable copy is at the end of this package)
If you buy everything at Lowes, the materials run around $630 (see detailed breakdown at the end of this package). Which is around the lower price range I’ve seen for traditional bunk beds and about half the cost of the high end bunk beds (that are no where near as cool as this one ).
You can also alter the plans to make the materials cost less (like substituting plywood for the loft floor or walls… etc.)

If you have space in a garage available to work on the Bed Fort, may I suggest a layout like this.
Setting things up right to begin with helps save you from having to shuffle things around later.
5
Detailed cut lists help you keep track of how to get the most out of your boards.
6
Detailed drilling guides show you where to drill the holes.
7
After drilling, you assemble the different sections of the Bed Fort.
This modular construction allows you to easily move the Bed Fort (or transport it to the grandkids if it’s a present). The whole thing fits in the back of a compact truck or a corner of the garage for easy storage.

These are the prices I found at my local Lowes in Charleston, SC
Prices probably vary around the country and you may be able to find better deals at local lumber yards.
