1863 International Committee for Relief of the Wounded (later ICRC) formed
National Committees for Relief of Wounded Soldiers established

Geneva Convention for the amelioration of the condition of the wounded in armies in the field

The Hague Conventions - laws and customs of war on land
1919
League of Red Cross Societies (renamed IFRC in 1991) founded in Paris to improve public health following the First World War.
