COAL.

We also received your telegram respecting 450 (Four hundred and

fifty) Tons of coal in the Temporary Bunker at the After end

of No. 2 Hold.

This temporary Bunker will be retained and it forms part of

^ the 1250 (Twelve hundred and fifty) Tons of Coal Capacity

in the vessel.

we do not think that this can be economically cut down,

but we will discuss the matter with the Chief Engineer.

At the moment you may take it that this Space will not be

available for either outward or Homeward Cargo.

DOCTOR.

W* have had a consultation with Messrs. Alfred Holt & Co., respecting

a Doctor and they have no Doctor on their staff or whom they

know would fulfil the requirements in this case, and they informed

us they would telegraph you accordingly,

we have had a conversation this morning with Mr. Bars tow pf Messrs. Alfred

Holt Sc Co., who we understand has obtained from y ou,, Dietary Scale.

H e advises us that this will probably involve the placing on board

of ice Boxes.

We have removed Two ice Boxes from the Ship and are therefore

writing to our contractors at Southampton not to return

these to the Naval Stores but to retain them at their Works

pending decision, and after this to enquite as to the

possibility of obtaining additional Ice Boses from the Naval
