Aftersomanydaysofverywarmtemperature,itisgoodtofeelthechangeinthe

weather.Autumnisonitsway!Thekidsarebackinschoolandweareputtingawayoursummerattireand

pullingouttheheavierclothing.Autumnisalsoatimetorenewthemind,bodyandsoul.ItgivesusanotheropportunitytotellsomeoneaboutthegoodnessofGod.TheNorthAmericanDivisionWomen’sDay

theme,was“OurTestimonies:God’sDelight.”Thereareseveralmeaningstothisword“testimony.”Forexample,Websterdefinesitas“apublicprofessionofareligiousexperience.”Theword“testimony”alsoimpliesthatsomewherealonglife’sjourney,youhavebeentestedorhavegonethroughamostdifficulttimeandGodprovided“awayofescape.”BecauseofthisexperienceyounowcelebrateGod’sdeliverancefromthistrial.Whatafittingwayforustotellourstoriestoeachother.Aswomenweoftenhavesomethingtotell.WhynottellaboutGod’sgoodnesstowardus?Whenweshareourtestimony,wearetellingtheworldaboutanexperiencethatonlyGodcouldhaveorchestrated.TheBibleisrepletewithstoriesofwomen’stestimoniesthatareupliftingandencouragingasinthestoryofthewomanatthewell.Iwillnotretellthestoryhere,butbeforeshehadatestimony,she

metJesus.Hedealtwiththingssheprobablywasnotwillingtoface.Hesaidtoher“Gocallthyhusband…”JesusissayingtherearesomethingsinyouIwantyoutoacknowledge.TherearesomethingsinyouIwantyoutocomefacetofacewith.TherearesomethingsthatareholdingyoubackfromthepowerIwanttogiveyou.BeforeGodcanbless,Hehastopurgeusofwrongattitudes,wrongaffectionsoftheheart(becauseitcontrolsyourwill),pride,fears,guiltandshame.ThenandonlythenHecanwork.Asaresult,thewomanatthewellwasnowabletorunintothecitywithhertestimonysaying,“Comeseeaman.”HertestimonywassopowerfulthatalmostthewholecitycameouttomeetJesus.Justthinkaboutthat!YourtestimonycanhavesuchanimpactthattheentirecityofDallaswillwanttoknowwhoJesusis.Thethingtorememberisthatthesewomeninthe

BiblecouldnothavehadatestimonywithoutadeepencounterwithJesus.Thedeepertheexperience,themoreprofoundourtestimonieswillbe.Aswecontinuethroughoutthisyear,mayourtestimoniestakeonanewdimensionwithGod.Maytheycontinuetoblessandinspireother.YoursforHisservice,

ahealthcrisisintheformofWestNile.ItseemsasifeveryotherdaythenewsreportsanothercaseofWestNile,orunfortunatelyadeathassociatedwiththevirus.IaskedDr.AndreaV.Brownforhertakeonthisveryimportanthealthissueandherearethefacts:WestNileinfectionusuallycausesnosymptoms.

However,inrarecases,thediseasecanleadtopermanentbraindamageordeath.Symptomswhichincludeslightfever,headacheorarash,mayoccur2-15daysafterapersonisbittenbyaninfectedmosquito.Attimes,seriousillnessandevendeath

arepossiblewhensymptomssuchassuddensevereheadache,highfever,stiffneck,confusion,weakness,seizures,andcomaoccur.Of150personsinfectedwithWNV,onlyonewillbecomeseverelyill,withpeopleovertheageof50atgreatestrisk.ThemostefficientdiagnostictestforWNVisabloodtestcollectedwithin8-14daysoftheonsetoftheillness.However,prolongedwaitingwillmakeadefinitivediagnosismuchlesslikely.Unfortunately,nospecifictreatmentisavailableforWNVinfection.Inseverecases,managementconsistsofsupportivecarethatofteninvolveshospitalization,intravenousfluids,respiratorysupportandpreventionofsecondaryinfections.Preventionisthebestwaytoavoidthediseaseby

usingDEET-infusedmosquitorepellant,coveringarmsandlegs,andemptyingstandingwatercontainers.Also,itisrecommendedthatyoustayindoorsduringdawn,duskandearlyeveninghours.

WhentheopportunitywaspresentedtomeinthelastissueoftheWOW

Connectiontoattendawomen’sretreat,IthoughtImightattend.WhenIsawthatoneofthefacilitatorswouldbeBeverlySedlacek,IknewforsureIwouldbeattending.Lastyear,tuckedawayatPrayerMountain,Mrs.Sedlacekhadchallengedusto“takeawaythemasks”thatwewore.Iwassoblessed!ThatwasmyintroductiontoMrs.Sedlacek’sministryandwasthebeginningoftheHolySpiritbreakingupthegroundinpreparationforwhatIexperiencedafewweeksago.TheretreatstartedonFridayafternoon

withintroductionsandthelayoutofhowtheweekendwouldflow.Thepresenters:BeverlySedlacek,MS,RNandClinicalDirectorofIntoHisRest

Ministries,JoannePalmer,AddictionCounselor,andourownDr.AndreaBrown,usheredusthroughaweekendfilledwithbreakthroughsofjoy,tears,pain,testimony,acknowledgementofpastandpresenthurts,recognitionof

aneverpresentGod,andarealizationthatwehavearesponsibilitytobeinthebestmentalhealthpossible;notonlyforourselves,butforallthoseinoursphereofinfluence.

EachwomanleftthatretreatarmedwithtoolstobeginthetransformationintothathealthymindedpersonGodwantsustobe.AllofthewomenwhoattendedhaveaspecialbondthatwillnotbebrokenbecauseofwhatwasexperiencedthroughtheworkingoftheHolySpirit.Tothoseladieswhoattendedwithme;“InGod’seconomytherearenolosers!”IamprayingforyouandIknowyouareprayingforme!WalkinfaithWomenofWorth,forthe“battleisnotyours;it’stheLord’s”!Ayearagothesoilwasbrokenupby

theHolySpiritandtheseedswereplantedthatweekend.Iknow,becauseIhaveaharvest!!!Thereisadefinitedifferenceinsomeareasinmylifethatneededimmediateattention.IknowthatasIgrow,doingthenecessaryworkinmylife,Godwillcontinuetobless.

RAW CAULIFLOWER (MASHED POTATOES)

Whatrawfoodmenuforanyspecialoccasion-wouldbecompletewithoutmashedpotatoes?Thiscreamygoodnessofcauliflowerbringstoyouarawrenditionofthemostbelovedclassic.

Ingredients 2cupscauliflower½cupchoppedcashews,soaked1tspoliveoil2tbspwater¼cupchives,chopped½garlicclove½lemonjuice,minced2tspseasalt(ortotaste)

Directions:Placecashewsandcauliflowerina

blender.Addlemonjuiceandwater,1tbspatatime,whileblendinginordertocreateacreamyconsistency.Removemixturefromblenderandplaceinalargebowl.Foldingarlic,chivesandseasalt.Garnishwithchives.

educationsherecommendstoparentswhowanttoseetheirchildreneducatedinchurchschoolthattheyaskGodforguidance.Prioritize,rearrangeandreshuffletheirfinancesandtheirtimeanddowhateverittakestoallowthechildrentogetthebesteducationpossible.It’snoteasybutwithGod,it’sworkable.Shedreamsofatotallyequippedacademywithwell-prepared

totheneedsofotherwomenattheannualBack-to-SchoolBlast,hostedbytheCommunityServicesDepartmentinAugust.Sixracksandseveraltablesofdonationsboastedatreasuretroveofgentlyuseditemsthatincludedeverythingfromchurchandbusinessattiretocasualclothing,shoes,handbagsandaccessories.Womenofallageseasilysearchedthroughitemscarefullyarrangedbytypeandsizetofindclothesthatperfectlyfittheirneeds.Teenswereabletofindclothesforschool,whileadultsleftwithgreatfindsforchurch,workandplay.Therewasevenagoodcollectionofeveningwear.“Wearesoexcitedaboutthenumberofwomenwe

wereabletohelp,”saidWOWcommitteememberHazelRoper.“Theamountandqualityofdonationsreceivedmadeitpossibleforgueststotakeasmanyitemsastheyneeded.”Notonlydidtheladiesdonatetheirwares,theyalsogaveoftheirtime.Morethan10womenvolunteeredtohelpsetuptheClothesClosetandhelpourguestssearchthedonationsandpackagetheirfindings.“Iwanttothankallthewomenwho

donatedclothingandtimetomakethiseventasuccess,”saidWOWDirector,NormaCarter.“Wecouldnothavedoneitwithoutyou!”Theitemsnotchosen,weredistributedtoGoodwillandtheGenesisWomen’sShelter.
