ASCEND  Program  

This  6-­‐week  program  is  designed  to  help  your  child  increase  their  awareness  of  their   bodies,   thoughts   and   feelings   and   learn   how   to   regulate   in   the   world  around  them.        What  is  self-­‐regulation?    

Emotional   regulation  –   the  ability   to   label   feelings,   express   feelings   safely,   and   regulate  one’s   internal   reactions   to   situations   so   as   to   not   be   overwhelmed   by   our   feelings   in  negatively  perceived  situations.    

Behavioural   regulation   –   the   capacity   to   read   social   situations   and   adjust   behaviours  accordingly  to  as  to  meet  the  demands  of  environmental  and  social  interactions.      For  more  information  please  contact  Erin  Rodier  at  erin.steppingstones@gmail.com

 This  group  is  an  opportunity  for  your  child  to  interact  with  their  peers  to  talk  about  their  shared  experiences  as  a  sibling      Topics  will  include:  Who  Am  I?                        Understanding  My  Siblings  Disability  and  Facts  &  Myths                                                                                Talking  To  Parents  &  Coping  Skills                                                                                Building  a  Friendship  with  My  Sibling

This  camp  is  all  about  getting  back  to  the  basics  of  play.    Designed  for  children  7  –  12yrs  of  age,  diagnosed  with  high  functioning  Autism,  PDD  –  NOS,  Asperger’s  Syndrome   and/or   Developmental   Disabilities   this   mini   camp   will   include   a  number  of  different  hands  on  activities  like:  arts  &  crafts,  team  building  games  and  more.     It’s  a  ton  of   fun  bundled  into  a  positive,  caring  &  safe  environment  that  promotes  individual  growth  &  healthy  relationship  development  in  a  social  setting.

We  invite  teens  to  learn  practical  and  effective  techniques  to  decrease  their  anxiety  in  a  safe  &  supportive  environment.    

Topics  will  include  but  are  not  limited  to:  Understanding  Anxiety  &  the  Stress  Response  System,  Relaxation,  Coping  with  Panic,  Overcoming  Negative  Self-­‐Talk,  Changing  Mistaken  Beliefs,  and  Increasing  Self-­‐Esteem.
