Make PredictionsThe New Kite

Mario and his older brother Luis walked to the park. Mario was excited to try out his new kite. The kite looked like a bird with a long silver ribbon for a tail.

“Let me show you how to fly it,” said Luis.“No! I can do it by myself!” said Mario.Mario threw the kite up in the air. The kite hit the

ground. Next, Mario tried to run as he threw the kite. The kite crashed in a heap.

Luis was smiling. “Stop laughing at me!” said Mario.“I’ll help you,” said Luis.“No!” said Mario. “It’s my kite! You can’t fly it

first!”

“Then let me toss the kite up for you,” said Luis.

Mario thought this over. “All right,” he said.Luis took several steps away from Mario. He

tossed the kite in the air. The wind caught the kite and sent it up in the air.

“Keep it going, Mario!” said Luis. “You’ve got it!”

Mario watched the kite sail higher in the sky. Its silver tail sparkled in the sun. “We did it, Luis!” he called. “Thanks a lot!”
