Pole & Antenna Mounting
Step1: Secure the pipe to the parapet wall or lift room or any other
suitable place with “C” clamps. Make sure that pipe do not rotates in the C clamp.
Note that SS (Subscriber Station) can also be mounted on an
existing pipe.
To make sure that Antenna Base Bracket (ABB) orientation is right
for a given pole size and pole orientation, make a loose assembly of
all the parts of the bracket.
Once clear on what type of ABB orientation will be required tighten
the ABB to SS.

Step2: Install the ABB as shown below.
Note that the ABB should be fixed after rotating by 90 degree compared to what is shown in the drawing.Precautions:
•The Elevation axis should be in parallel to the pole on which SS is to be mounted.
•The four bolts are of steel whereas the body of the enclosure is aluminium, a softer material. There is no threading on the bolt receptacle on the SS body. The bolts are to fixed by self-threading them.
•Ensure that bolts are aligned correctly or else the holes will get threaded unevenly. Use nut driver of proper size. Do not use spanner. Care needs to be taken to use the correct torque for tightening.
•Multiple removing and attaching brackets should be avoided, as this will damage the threads in the aluminium body.••There should not be any gap/play between bolt head and base bracket.

Connector Preparation and Cabling
StarMAX SS 2150 connects to PoE box with CAT5e cable with RJ45
connector on both the sides
The connectivity from PoE box to SS port is Straight through
Supported Cable Length is 100 meter
PoE box to Customer Premise Equipment connectivity is auto negotiate
mode
It is important to check the continuity of the cable before plugging it into
PoE and StarMAX SS
CAT5e cable should be free of any sharp Bends and Twists for better
performance

Installation Contd..
Grounding
Grounding of the Subscriber Station should be performed by following the steps:
Take M5x10 screw and a nut;
Fix the screw on the opening on the bottom of the Subscriber Station (next to the opening for the PoE cable)
Use a grounding cable no.10 (or 16 mm2)
Connecting the Equipment
Connect the Network Cable to RF+DC port on the PoE Module.
Connect the RJ-45 Network Cable to the RF port on the PoE Module.
Connect the other end of RJ-45 Network Cable to the RJ-45 port of your computer's Ethernet card or the adapter.
Connect the PoE Module to a standard electrical outlet.

Functional Description
Networking device
StarMAX 2100 series Subscriber Stations operate in the bridging mode. Their
primary function is L2 packet forwarding between the WiMAX interface and the
network interface. Access control lists, which may be applied to both WiMAX and
network interface are controlled by the StarMAX NMS network management
system.
Physical layer implementation
StarMAX 2100 series Subscriber Stations support IEEE 802.16 - 2004 standards
compliant physical layer with 256 OFDM/TDM/TDMA TDD operation. Supported
bands are 2.5, 3.3 and 3.5 GHz. Supported frame lengths are 5 ms, 8 ms, 10 ms,
12,5 ms and 20 ms. Supported frame splits are from 70:30 to 20:80 (uplink versus
downlink). Supported bandwidths are 3 MHz, 3.5 MHz, 5 MHz, 6 MHz, 7 MHz 10
MHz. Channel bandwidth is settable is steps of 250 kHz. Part of the standard PHY
layer implementation is adaptive modulation support.

MAC layer implementationStarMAX 2100 series Subscriber Stations support IEEE 802.16 -2004 standards compliant mandatory MAC layer implementation with packet convergence sublayer and common part sublayer. This includes core MAC layer functionality with control of duplexing, framing, PDU formation and header/subheader insertion.
Security Sublayer implementationStarMAX Subscriber Stations support PKM - V1 protocol for network authentication/security. PKM - V1 is determined by the cryptographic suite, which consists of the set of supported algorithm for encryption, authentication and TEK encryption. The supported cryptographic suite is supported:

Detailed Procedure for Antenna Alignment
Identify the nearest base station and if one is visible. Roughly align the antenna in the direction of this BTS.Power on the SS. Connect LCT to SS and monitor the RSSI.Before attempting horizontal alignment please loose bolt connecting antenna bracket (item# 1) with arm bracket (item# 5). Otherwise knurls on both the items will get damaged. After alignment this bolt is to be tightened.Keep the SS (Antenna) almost vertical and looking towards the rough direction of BTS. Move the Antenna slowly in horizontal plane, clock wise for at-least 45 degree from the initial position and mark the maximum RSSI. Do not stop even if design RSSI is achieved at some point. The RSSI may increase and finally start decreasing and become almost zero when the antenna is at 45 degree.Move the antenna slowly anti-clock wise, again noting the maximum RSSI and bring it back to original position.Move the antenna slowly clock wise, noting the maximum RSSI, till antenna is about 45 degree from the initial position.Bring the antenna to maximum RSSI position and tighten the bolt as described in point (iii).It is advisable to do 2/3 seeps of antenna and then lock antenna on maximum RSSI in horizontal plan.Now Vertical alignment is to be carried out. The procedure of vertical alignment is same as horizontal alignment. The sweep of antenna may be restricted to 15 degree up and 15 degree down from initial position.
Similarly before attempting vertical alignment loose bolt connecting arm bracket (item#5) with wall/pole bracket (item#10). Otherwise knurls on both the items will get damaged. After alignment this bolt is to be tightenedThe SS is to be locked to maximum RSSI.
