Will We Party Planning
Van Tatenhove, 2011
Preparation: 1. Print out 2 copies of the Party Activity cards.
a. Copy 1: Cut off the 10 party activities from the 5 point schedule. Cut apart the 10 activities. Keep the schedule intact.
b. Copy 2: Cut off the 10 party activities form the 5 point schedule. Leave the 10 activities intact as a Pixon Communication Board display and visual reminder of the activities that might be done at the party. The schedule bit is just extra.
2. Duplicate the appropriate visual support materials. a. Pixons b. Unity 45 Sequenced c. Unity 60 Sequenced d. Unity 84 Sequenced e. Unity 144 Sequenced
Activity: 1. Discuss having a party with the child, giving examples from birthday and/or holiday parties
that the child may have experienced. Tell him/her that you are going to have a pretend party and he/she has to guess what he/she will be doing at the party. (Be prepared to have the party if you promised one!) Plan for doing 5 things at the party.
2. Show the pictures of the various activities. 3. Place 5 of the cards face down onto the schedule. Have the child guess what you will be
doing at the party (e.g., Will we sing?). As he/she guesses correctly, turn the card face-up on the schedule.
4. Once the schedule is revealed, it is time for the party.
