Wild Guizhou

Wild Guizhou is all about Making Memories ... by getting involved with

the land and the people

1) Hiking to a secluded village

3 focus points of the trip

2) Getting to know a local family

3) Working with the Community

Day 1

• Is a travel day

• Fly to Guiyang in Guizhou

• Short break at a beautiful park in Longli to hike/zipline/stretch

• 1.5 hour bus ride to Kali

• Check into 4 star hotel

Share hotel with roommate

Day 2: Hiking to our Village

• Breakfast at Hotel

• 4 hour hike through amazing nature trail... from village to village, over the mountain and through the woods

• (Bus meets us there with suitcases and bottled water)

Each Miao village has its own customs and

traditions

There was a wedding taking place when I was there, all the village was invited, lots

of gifts (quilt, pig, rice bags), and fireworks

•Evening: Learn to play local instrument

• Reed pipe instruction

• bonfire celebration with host children

• Sing songs, roast marshmallows

• locally made reed instrument

-will be staying in a home hostels in groups of 4-6 students

-the village has taken in school groups of 100 before so they will easily accommodate our small

group of 20 students, 2 teachers, school nurse, local guide, and China Flavors Guide

End of Day 2, time for bed

Day 3: Volunteer work

• Miao Breakfast

• English class

• Farm work (field plowing, building retaining walls, carp-fishing, digging potatoes)

• Pick vegetables for lunch and supper

• The cat fish raised in the rice fields are said to be the most delicious fish ... a real treat

End of Day 3

-to bed with your group of

four to six students in your

Miao Village hostel

Day 4:

• Breakfast with your hostel group

• Volunteer at local school, say goodbye

• Drive to another village (long skirt Miao People) for cultural show (called long skirt tribe because of the length of their traditional dress)

Teaching our favorite Art, Music, Sports lesson while incorporating english vocabulary

- The children in the village are in grades 1 to 6 as the older children have to go to boarding school, as the roads are too difficult for a daily school bus.

•join in traditional dancing in the city square

Day 5: Travel Day

•Check out of Kali Hotel

•Drive to Airport

•Flight to Shanghai
