What’s a Wiki?

• A simple, collaborative online data base where any user can create, edit and browse content within the site

•Wikipedia is the most widely used wiki on the web.

•It is an encyclopedia project that is intended for quick access to information on almost any topic.

•The content is so vast because of the users ability to add new ideas.

Audience?

Wikipedia is intended to be used by everyone, that’s the point.

Wiki’s differ from other content management systems (such as blogs) because there is no defined owner of leader, and there is a flexible structure.

More people accessing Wikipedia leads to more collaboration

Wikipedia is a form of social media because it is providing information as well as interaction between users.

This interaction between users of the site, whether it be creating or editing pages of information or simply leaving a comment somewhere, this is what is connecting people.

User interaction defines a social media.

Why care?

Wikipedia is providing people with quick, easy to access information on almost any topic imaginable.

Wikipedia is second to none when it comes to quickly finding a full report on any given topic.

Although its not considered an academic source, it is still very useful in research.

I personally use Wikipedia regularly in order to get quick knowledge! Highly recommended to every internet user!
