5. Summary

Invest in Visibility

Enforce Standardisation

o Standardise your Platforms, Processes and People o Investments must be usable across the enterprise o Conduct what-if scenario’s to test for agility/risks e.g.

what would the impact be if we had to outsource our Service Desk tomorrow?

Be an IT Service Broker

o Bringing together personal clouds and external private cloud services is an imperative.

o Enterprises should design private cloud services with a hybrid future in mind and make sure future integration/interoperability is possible.

o Hybrid cloud services can be composed in many ways, varying from relatively static to very dynamic.

Adopt the Cloud

o In some countries you can have all data in the cloud.

o In Singapore you cannot (banking) but that does not mean you cannot move to the cloud.

Option 1. Presentation layer only in the cloud

(effectively a portal) Option 2. Segregation of data, sensitive data in the private cloud, non-

sensitive and presentation layer in the public cloud.

Key point is, the solution must be designed!

Leverage Social Media

Low upfront cost, and if done right, very high returns

o Be consistent and timely with tweets

o Demonstrate capability on Youtube

Where else can you get a million people to see your products and services for $0 advertising costs?

Social Support

o If a customer complains on Facebook, they want you to deal with them via Facebook, not ask them to give you a call.

o Web-based applications can interface, there is no need to double key information.

Even More!

There’s an (enterprise) app for that Corporate app stores will provide a secure environment for employees to download the software and mobile apps they need for day-to-day operations. Making the workplace fun! Companies like Spotify have already introduced gamification to replace annual reviews. Instead, employees use a Web application that provides weekly and daily summaries of their accomplishments, acknowledgements, and overall productivity. Social B2B Systems that will allow simulations of cross-business processes to test supply chain under differing scenarios on a collaborative basis.

Summary

IT needs to act like a Venture Capitalist: 1. Inventory your technology portfolio 2. Define your services 3. Evaluate your portfolio (risk, cost, strategic alignment) 4. Define a direct line of sight, from service to revenue 5. Double down on winners (fold on the losers)

To be a successful IT Organisation today, Agility is not enough... We must be innovative and most importantly...

Proactive!

Thank You!
