The Monterrey Oak is a medium to
large semi-evergreen tree which was
discovered growing in the United
States in 1992. This particular oak is
only naturally occurring in Mexico and
in Val Verde county of Texas. It has
become widely used as a landscape
tree. Once established, it is as
drought-tolerant as a live oak. Monterrey Oak is a white oak so it is not
affected by oak wilt. Monterrey Oaks are relatively fast growing, known
to grow from small switches, to around 20 feet in a span of eight years.
Common Names: Mexican white oak, Netleaf white oak
