What is LIBRIS?

• Division of the National Library of Sweden

• Is founded on co-operation among the affiliated libraries.

• Mostly university- and research libraries

• A lot like ABES?

What do we do?

• Co-operative national union catalogue

• Development of national systems

• Central licensing

• Librarians, technicians, programmers, interaction designer, license officers....about 25 people

BIBSAM consortia

• Central license agreements

• 65 participating libraries

• About 40 license agreements

- Journal collections (“Big Deals”); Elsevier, Emerald, OUP, CUP, Springer, Wiley-Blackwell

- Reference works; Encyclopedia Britannica

- E-books

Shared cataloguing

• Just catalogue a record once in Sweden and all the libraries can use it !

• Shared, central cataloguing in LIBRIS

• 180 library organisations, 350 library units.
