WHAT IS AGEING

Ageing  is the accumulation of changes in a person over time.

It can be due physical, psychological and social  changes.

TYPES OF AGEING

ExtrinsicIt happens due to external factors due to

changes in the environment or sun exposure.

Intrinsic It is a natural ageing process. Begins in our mid 20s

WHY AND WHEN DO WE AGE

Life span is ultimately determined by the fact that cells can only replicate a certain number of times.

Although researchers believe human should live more than 120 years, average life span is around is 70 years.

WHY IS THIS???

Cells attacked by Free Radicals that damage brain cells. Lack of Vitamin E , C and Selenium which is used under stress. Creation of toxins . Additionally, 75% of Americans are not getting enough free radical fighting

antioxidants, such as vitamin E, selenium or even vitamin C. These are quickly used up under stress, while neurological imbalances further accelerate aging

Human survives because cells duplicate

and get replaced.

In replication process, errors accumulate

so vital DNA code is not copied in the

same way.

Due to this problems with our cells, we

get old and we die.

WHAT GOES ON IN OUR CELL

This is a paper repeatedly copied in copy machine. Every time the paper is subject to an error, the final paper accumulates all those errors, so the actual data is not copied.

EFFECTS OF

AGEING

Skin

Intrinsic Aging:Within the skin, collagen production slows. Dead skin cells do not shed as quickly and turnover of new skin cells may decrease.

SIGNS Hollowed cheeks and Loss of firmness on the hands and neck Bones shrink away causing sagging skin Dry skin causing itchiness Inability to sweat Graying hair

Extrinsic Aging:A number of extrinsic, or external, factors often act together with the normal aging process to prematurely age our skin. Due to

- Sun exposure

- Repetitive facial expressions

- sleeping positions, smoking

Nervous System (Physical) Stroke EpilepsyEpilepsy is a disorder of the brain in which clusters of nerve cells (or

neurones) send off abnormal electrical signals.

Nervous system (mental) Depression Dementia Alzheimer’s

Causes Low levels of Vitamin C and E Free radicals that damage cells Nutritional deficiencies

REMEDIES OF AGEING

Vitamin E can slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease by as much as 25%

• Eat Fruits and Vegetables,• Chocolate, Red wine

Avoid alcohol, cigarettes Protecting your skin from the sun

Brain Games ( Mental anti- ageing)

A number of herbs are highly prized and renowned for their anti-aging and longevity-promoting effects.eg-Valerian root improves sleep patterns when taken as bedtime.
