During the Summer

Plan for the future today

• High School Resume • Rigorous courses all 4 years • Meet with your counselor • Visit ACT and SAT website • Meet pre-requisites for future courses • Visit college and career websites • Talk to professionals in field • Use Missouri Connections

Why take advanced-level courses in high school? Why stay in the advanced classes I signed up for?

Here’s the cost of “remediation” in higher education:

• 62% of Missouri 17-19 year olds at 2-year community colleges enrolled in remedial courses in their first year: the college required them to take these courses because of their low ACT scores.

• 40% of the students who take remedial courses at college also take six years to complete a college degree.

Tips for Success

Attendance PolicyStudents must be in attendance 90% of the time for each class to earn credit.

• Cannot miss more than 9 classes a semester. • Documented medical issues and bereavement do not count against this

policy.

Study and Read DailyMinimum to be average

10 minutes times grade level

10 x 9 = minimum 90 minutes daily

Use your plannerWe sell planners during schedule pick up (Enrollment)

We use our planners as passes and to sign up for tutoring during the day.

Students need to have their planner with them in the hallway. This is why we sell them so that everyone has the same style and it is easy to spot by staff.

Ask QuestionsAs soon as you have one. Not the day before a test.
