(11) “And Jesus said to her, ‘Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

SIN NO MORE…

UNFAITHFUL

Pine Grove Church of Christ – 02/13/11

Sin No More… UNFAITHFUL Definition of Faithful:

True to one’s word, promises, vows, etc;

Steady in allegiance or affection; loyal; constant;

Adhering firmly and devotedly, as to a person, cause, or idea;

Engaging in intimate relations only with one’s spouse;

Sin No More… UNFAITHFUL

Spiritual Adultery

Spiritual Adultery James 4:4-5 –

“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not now that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”

Spiritual Adultery Hosea 3:1-5 –

“Then the Lord said to me, “Go again, love a woman who is loved by a lover and is committing adultery, just like the love of the Lord for the children of Israel, who look to other gods and love the raisin cakes of the pagans.”

Sin No More… UNFAITHFUL

Spiritual Adultery Not Continuing in God’s

Covenant

Not Continuing in God’s Covenant Hebrews 8:9 –

“they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord”

Not Continuing in God’s Covenant Ezekiel 18:24 –

“if a righteous man turns away from his righteousness… all the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die.”

Sin No More… UNFAITHFUL

Spiritual Adultery Not Continuing in God’s

Covenant Departing from God

Departing from God Hebrews 3:12-14 –

“Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God”

Departing from God Galatians 5:1-4 –

“You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace”

Departing from God II Peter 2:20-22 –

“For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.”

Sin No More… UNFAITHFUL

Spiritual Adultery Not Continuing in God’s

Covenant Departing from God Example of Simon

Example of Simon Acts 8:9-24 –

“You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.”

Sin No More… UNFAITHFUL

Spiritual Adultery Not Continuing in God’s Covenant Departing from God Example of Simon We Must Remain Faithful to God

We Must Remain Faithful to God We Must Continue

Acts 2:40-42 – “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers”

Hebrews 10:23-25 – “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering”

We Must Remain Faithful to God We Must Continue

Acts 14:21-22 – “strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith”

We Must Remain Faithful to God We Must Continue

Colossians 1:21-23 – “if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel”

We Must Remain Faithful to God We Must Continue Life-Long Commitment

Matthew 24:9-13 – “But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”

We Must Remain Faithful to God We Must Continue Life-Long Commitment

Revelations 2:10 – “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life”

We Must Remain Faithful to God We Must Continue Life-Long Commitment

II Timothy 4:6-8 – I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness”

Conclusion Unfaithfulness is sin & we must treat it that

way. Unfaithfulness is serious. Unfaithfulness separates us from God, from

God’s blessings, and from God’s promises. Unfaithfulness will keep us out of heaven. We must continue to serve God & remain

faithful until death.

Conclusion

Revelations 2:10 – “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life”
